MINUTES OF TOWN COMMISSION MEETING
SPECIAL WORKSHOP
Tuesday May 3 2005 4:00 P.M.
Mayor Harold R. Hagelmann called the Special Workshop to order in Commission
Chamber at 4:00 P.M., advising its purpose was as follows:
DISCUSSION RE SALE OF LAND LOCATED IN BOCA RATON
Town Clerk Doris Trinley called the roll. The Mayor, Vice Mayor Joseph J. Asselta, and
Commissioners Rachael Scala-Pistone, Miriam S. Zwick and Jim Newill, CPA, were in
attendance.
Town Attorney Thomas E. Sliney and Town Manager Dale Sugerman were also in
attendance, as were members of the general public.
After roll call, the Pledge of Allegiance was given.
• Town Manager Dale Sugerman led discussion, stating that two (2) parcels were involved:
the old water plant site [2.17 acres fronting Federal Highway] zoned commercial, and the
wellfield site [8.54 acres immediately west of Old Dixie Highway] zoned residential. It
was noted that the City of Boca Raton had "first right of refusal" on the wellfield property.
Lengthy discussion ensued, including results of the one (1) appraisal obtained; how to
decide what purchase price to offer Boca; and the possibility of obtaining a portion of the
water plant site for water storage. Various opinions were voiced, including an offer at
the appraisal price, or perhaps to let the market drive the price.
Concluding discussion, it was the consensus that, before any decisions were made, the
Town should obtain two (2) more appraisals as well as employ a real estate consultant.
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, Mayor
Hagelmann adjourned the Special Workshop at 4:55 P.M. upon MOTION by
COMMISSIONER ZWICK/COMMISSIONER NEWILL.
