Minutes. Highland Beach Town Commission. April 2, 1957
(a regular monthly meeting) April 16, 1957
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. on April 2, 1957 by Comm.
Hertwig. No others were present and lacking a quorum the meeting was
declared recessed to 7:30 p.m. on April 16, 1957.
The recessed meeting of 4/2/57 was called to order by Mayor Eypel at
7:30 p.m. on April 16, 1957. Also present were Comm. Hertwig & Winston.
Comm. Breckinridge and Noble were absent. Mr. Peter Foglia was present.
The clerk read letter from Brockway, Weber & Brockway dated April 3,1957
reporting conclusions of their inspection of the Bel Lido bridge. The
clerk read also letter from Brockway, Weber & Brockway, dated April 4,
1957, making general recommendations for procedures to protect the
Town in the matter of approving sub-divisions. There was general dis-
cussion of the substance of both of these letters. Mr. Peter Foglia,
whose sub-division, Bel Lido was the subject of the letters, stated
that he was in agreement with the recommendations made in the letters.
Mr. Foglia submitted to the commission for their consideration the
tracing of the Bel Lido plat as showing final dimensions of streets,
plots etc. Comm. Hertwig moved that the Commission accept the plat to
refer to the Town Engineer for suggestions as to engineering features
to be included when the plat would be presented for final approval.
The motion was seconded by Comm. Winston and approved by affirmative
votes of Comm. Eypel, Hertwig and Winston. There was no dissent. 1
fl _;ote; The reading of the minutes of the meeting of 3/5/57 & 3/14/57 was
deferred by general agreement as two commissioners were absent.
The clerk read letter from Brockway, Weber & Brockway dated April 3, 1957,
being Pay Estimate #3 due Birdsall Const. Company for work done at the
Water Treatment plant, in the,amount of $5,994.36 and after some dis-
cussion Comm. Hertwig moved that the payment be authorized. Comm. Wine
ston seconded the motion which was adopted by the affirmative votes of
Comm. Eypel, Hertwig & Winston with no dissent.
The clerk read invoices dated March 20, 1957 and April 12, 1957 from
: rockway, Weber & Brockway making a total of $746.51 for engineering
fees on work done under pay estimates #2 & #3 to the Birdsall Construc-
tion Company at the Water Treatment plant. Comm. Hertwig moved that
the payment of the fees to Brockway, Weber & Brockway be approved and
authorized. The motion was seconded by Comm. Winston and adopted with-
out dissent by affirmative votes of Comm. Eypel, Hertwig and Winston.
On motion of Comm. Hertwig, seconded by Comm. Winston and the affirma-
tive votes of Comm. Eypel, Hertwig and Winston, payment was authorized
to Earl Harvel, Jr. for extra hydrant flushing on 3/9/57 & 3/25/57, in
the amount of $20.00.
The meeting was adjourned on motion of Comm. Winston, seconded by Comm.
hertwig, and the affirmative votes of Comm. Eypel, Hertwig and Winston.
