1957.10.01_TC_Minutes_Regular Minutes. Highlaald Beach Town Commission. October 1, 1957.
( A regular monthly meeting)
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Eypel at 7:30 p.m. Also pre-
sent were Comm. Breckinridge, Hertwig and Noble. Comm. Winston was ab-
sent, being out of town. In the audience were Mr: Peter Foglia, Homer
Martin and John Vudragovich.
By general agreement it was decided to defer the reading of minutes of
previous minutes, as everyone was willing to get to the discussion of
details of the Bel Lido subdivision.
There was a lengthy discussion of the aforesaid subdivision with par-
ticular emphasis on the details of the specifications for streets, util-
ities and drainage. The Town Engineers had advised earlier that the
specifications were not being met properly. Mr. Foglia raised the ques-
tion that the requirements of the Town Engineer were unnecessarily
severe.
After much discussion it was generally agreed that Mr. Foglia would
have a personal meeting with Engineer George S. Brockway and see if he
would recommend any changes to make the specifications less exacting
without sacrificing the interests of the Town. It was decided that if
such changes were recommended the Town Commission would consider them
at a meeting in the near future. After these discussions Mr. Foglia
and his associates left the meeting which then proceeded with the reg-
ular business of the Town.
There was a general discussion about pest control of mosquitos and sand
flies but no formal action was taken.
Mr. Earl Harvel, Jr., presented a letter dated 10/1/57 in which he out-
lined a revised proposal for operating an inspection and maintenance
service at the water works. It is based on the fact that the new Water
Treatment plant will require more extensive servicing. The cost for the
greater service involved was tentatively set at $110.00 per month. After
full discussion Comm. Breckinridge moved that the Town accept Mr.
Harveys proposal as outlined in his letter of October 1, 1957. The
motion was seconded by Comm. Noble and approved by affirmative votes of
Comm. Breckinridge, Eypel, Hertwig and Noble.
On motion of Comm. Breckinridge, seconded by Comm. Noble and the affirm-
ative votes of Comm. Breckinridge, Eypel, Hertwig and Noble, the Town
Treasurer was authorized and directed to pay bills of Earl Harvel, Jr.,
dated 10/1/57 in the amounts of $50.00- $28.20- $94.25 for services at
the Water Works during the past month.
Comm. Hertwig moved that the meeting be recessed until 7:30 p.m. on
October 7, 1957. The motion was seconded by Comm. Noble and approved
on affirmative votes of Comm. Breckinridge, Eypel, Hertwig and Noble,
with no dissent.
