1975.02.12_BAA_Minutes_Regular MINUTES : THE HOUSING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT AND APPEALS. MEETING HELD
ON FEBRUARY 12, 1975
Chairman Santangelo called the meeting to order at 10 :15 A.M.
Present were : Chairman Santangelo, Vice Chairman
Genovese, Carl Krauss, Ben Stephen-
son, Gertrude Vendeland
Alternates : Lyman Jenkins and
John Kanner
Also in attendance were : Mrs . Roberts, the Town Manager; and Mr.
O'Grady, the Building Official.
Chairman Santangelo requested Mr. O'Grady to report on the Steinhardt
property. He stated that Mr. Steinhardt was cooperative, and that
the building has been demolished. All members of the Board were shown
a photograph of the site . Judge Santangelo thanked Mr. O'Grady for
the speed in the completion of removal of the White House and asked
him if there were any other matters to be attended to at the present
time . There were none; although there had been some other units which
were in question, but not near condemnation. Mr. O'Grady will keep a
close eye on the situation.
The chairman asked Mrs . Roberts if she had anything to be brought be-
fore the Board. There was nothing.
The Secretary called the roll, all members present as well as both
alternates . Minutes of January 8th meeting were read. Mr. Stephenson
stated that he was present and Mr. Kanner was the alternate for Mr.
Genovese. Mr. Genovese moved that the corrections be made and the
minutes accepted, seconded by Mr. Krauss . Unanimously approved.
Mr. Genovese commented on the Steinhardt matter and that their presence
is indicative that justice will out and not to be discouraged, as the
aim of the Housing group is to work for the good of the Town.
Chairman Santangelo asked Mrs . ,Roberts for comments and she replied
that we never know when we are going to be confronted with an appeal,
and that we have needed a Board such as this for a long time.
Mr. Krauss and Chairman Santangelo attended a Town Commission meeting
at which a matter was discussed regarding the commercialization of High-
land Beach. They did not express their views inasmuch as it may come
before this Board at some future date. Mr. Krauss suggested the impor-

r tance of the Board attending the Town Commission meetings, workshop
as well as regular meetings for general knowledge.
A motion for adjournment at 10:35 A.M. was made by Mr. Genovese and
seconded by Mrs. Vendeland. Unanimous.
Date of next meeting Wednesday, March 12, 1975 at 10: 15.
