Minutes of the regular meeting of the Community Appearance Board
on Thursday, August 29, 1974, at 7:00 P .M. at the Highland Beach
Town Hall .
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. with the following members
present : Messrs. Beekman, Rex, Storm, and Mmes . Becker and Stewart.
Minutes of the last regular meeting on July 31, 1974, were read
and approved as corrected.
Item #1: Bel Lido Association (Access to Beach
No representative was present, and as theins submitted were
incomplete, ,.rs. Becker made motion to table the matter since 1,
light detail was incomplete; 2, finish on aluminum gate and railing
not specified; 3, no plantings given for designated area; and 4,
no detail on planter lights . Mr. Storm sec' nded the motion and
approved by Messrs . Beekman, Rex, Storm, and Mmes . Becker and
Stewart.
Item #2:Regency Highland, 3912 So.Ocean Blvd. (Building color
and ground lightinFj
Representatives present were Mr. Bier and Mrs. Neill. Lighter
building colors were offered in the light and darker cream beiges,
as per swatches, with lighter bronze (LB12) sample for railings.
Exterior lighting to be 12-14' dome fixtures in light bronze, 175
watts. Mr. Rex made motion to accept colors and lighting fixtures
as submitted. Mr. Storm seconded the motion and approved by
Messrs . Beekman, sex, Storm, and Mmes . Becker and Stewart.
Item : Holiday Inn, 2509 3o. Ocean Blvd .
Since no representative appeared to review building color, lighting,
screening, etc., Mr. Rex made motion to meet at 10:00 A.M.Saturday
July 31, at the Holiday Inn for on-sight inspection. Mr.Stor:n
seconded the motion and approved cy Messrs . Beekman, .Rex,Storm,
ana Mmes. Sacker and Stew,-rt .
Item #4 : Highland Beach Towers (Lot 102-E,W. ) (Radice Realty)
Present were Ar. Roy Smith, Architect, and Mr. Gordon Smith, Land-
scape Architect. The Board recommended a boardwalk to the beach,
to save Sea Oats and otner vegetation, approved cy the architect.
Size and depth of planters was discussed and it was recommended
that a minimum of 3' depth be used for all planters with excep_ion
of trees which are to be 4 ' minimum depth. Plan was presented to
help screen parking area from AIA by use of fencing with light
standards, and it was recommended that 5 hedge be placed on each
side of property line to meet the CAB riteria. It was also
suggested that building on west side show some interruption of the
long driveway from AIA for a more attractive appearance, and that
advance notice be given to CAB before bulldozing so a member may be
on nand to see that trees as indicated be saved. It was also
recommended that more landscaping ce shown at the entrance.
Mr. dex made motion that the plans be left tabled until next meeting.
Mrs . beaker seconded and approved by Messrs . Beekman, Rex, Storm,

Item #5: Condominium,1101 Bellaire Mr. Ernest Polze) - Sign
No representative was 'resent. Mr. Rex made motion not to approve
the sign as submitted because of its unattractive appearance and
because it does not conform to CAB criteria . Yrs . Becker seconded,
and approved by Messrs . Rex, Beekman, Storm, and Mrs. Becker and
Mrs . Stewart.
Item #5: Boca Cove, 4515 So. Ocean - Sign
No representative was present. Mrs . Becker made motion to approve
the signs as sucmitted, seconded by Mr. Rex and approved by
Messrs . Rex, Beekman, Storm, and Mmes . Becker and Stewart .
Item Boca Hi (Group 1 Townhouses-Braemar Arms!
Plans of beach townhouses were shtwn. Mr. David Martin, represent-
ative present, is to submit plans for lithting, landscaping, etc. ,
as sh,:wn on list attached. ,•r . Rex made motion to table the matter
until next meeting. Mr. Beekman seconded, and approved by Messrs .
Beekman, Rex, Storm, and Mmes . Becker and Stewart.
Old Business
Concern was expressed about the proposed location of the statue
to be erected at St .Lucy Church, and decision was made to locate
- it near the Church site, instead of as originally proposed along AIA.

Letter was read from Boca-di, Inc. relative to sign removal on
the Intracoastalwaterway, and Mr. Bill Johnson, Vice President,asks
that our Minutes of July 31, indicate that such sign had been
removed on July 2. These minutes therefore show such correction
as requested in Mr. Johnson' s letter of August 1st, 1974 .
New Business
Since Mr.Martin Johnson' s term of office as a member of the Board
expired August 5, motion was made by Mr. Rex, seconded by Mr. Beekman,
that he be asked to continue for another two-year term, and .44C

Mrs . Becker made motion to adjourn at 11:15 2 .M. , seconded by
Ar. Beekman and approved by Messrs. Beekman, Rex, Storm, and
Ames. Becker and Stewart.
