Minutes of the regular meeting of the Community Appearance Board held on
Thursday, July 31, 1975, at the Highland Beach Town Hall, at 7:00 P.M.
Meeting was called to order at 7: 13 P.M. with the following members
present:
Messrs. Beekman and Storm, and Mmes. Becker and
Stewart.
Mr. Rex was absent. Mrs. Jaffe, alternate, arrived
at 7:45 P.M. Mr. O 'Grady was not present.
Minutes of the last meeting on June 26, 1975, were read. Mr. Beekman
moved approval, Mr. Storm seconded. Mr. Beekman, Mr. Storm, Mrs. Becker,
and Mrs . Stewart voted Aye.
Item 1. Mr. Harry Libby, Supervisor of Construction, appeared for
Hyland Tri-Plex. Explained that inground garbage pails would be placed
at East end of building near front of garage. Air conditioners will be
placed on roof over middle portion of building. A pre-cast railing
will be added over front door to break height of arch. Ring lights
added - two on ground - one at West end one near main door. Third
light at end of building between garage doors 2 and 3. Light will
r^` be added for garbage cans . A sample of roof tile - terra cotta - was
submitted. Building will be beige stucco, shutters charcoal brown.
Garage doors will be two shades darker than stucco. Shutters added
at one side; landscaping at base. Mr. Beekman moved that plans be
approved as shown. Mr. Storm seconded. Mr. Beekman, Mr. Storm, Mrs.
Becker, and Mrs . Stewart voted aye.
Item 2 . 4 - plex Mr. Dobryzynski.
No representative appeared.
Numbers and sizes of plantings not indicated. Height of
hedges important.
Sample of roof color needed.
Christmas palms are listed for back of building. This type of
palm is subject to lethal yellow.
Mr. Beekman voted to table discussion until next meeting.
Seconded by Mrs. Jaffe. Mrs. Jaffe, Mr. Storm, Mr. Beekman, Mrs.
Becker, and Mrs. Stewart all voted Aye.
Item 3. Gibson tri-plex.
Mr. Lyle Gibson asked to change roof to charcoal black; fascia
and soffit to be white. Shutters to be compatible with roof color. Mr.
Beekman moved approval. Mr. Storm seconded. Mrs . Jaffe, Mr. Storm,
Mr. Beekman, Mrs. Becker, and Mrs. Stewart all voted Aye.
Mrs. Stewart read a letter from the Department of Transportation to
the Town Manager (Letter signed Paul White, District Permits Engineer) ,
dated June 11, 1975, the letter advised that mounds in front of the
Ambassadors must be removed and a swell constructed so as not to cre-
ate a traffic hazard. The Department of Transportation had not issued
any permits for such mounds .
Meeting adjourned at 8 :45 P.M. Next meeting to be called on August 28,
1975 .
