Regarding Commissioner Clark ' s suggested change in the preamble
"private appearance as opposed to community appearance " decision
is to ask Commissioner Clark to rephrase. . . .what does he have in
mind it needs further clarification.

Department unless the Building Official finds that the as built
project conforms with the approved drawings or approved amendments
thereto. . . . drop . . "in final form"

Section 3. 3 Commissioner Clark wanted a definition of
"orderly relationship" C.A. B. definition is
"harmony" .
Section 3.4. "Experience of Space" C.A. B. feels this is worthy
of discussion, and it will be discussed with Town
Commission preferably not to be stricken.
Section 3.5 Describes to builder and his architect what is
needed. . . .helps them to understand what our
community is looking for.
Section 3.6 Helpful to C.A. B. , not restrictive, general in-
formation, would like to see it stay in because
it helps the builder.
Commissioner Clark' s comments on above were that these three
sections read like something from a textbook, and are they
really needed in this document?
enN
Section 4.d "Symbols and symbolic buildings" This should
be explained to Commission at the meeting.
Section 4.i Chairman Rex did not feel that we were ex-
cluding telephone booths from the area, just
suggesting that we do something to make
telephone booths more attractive . . .does not
feel that criteria is too restrictive. Could
be put behind an attractive hedge, not just
sitting by the side of the road. Would like
Commissioner'Clark ' s explanation of why he
feels this is too restrictive.

5 .0 LANDSCAPING
Section 5.b. Commissioner Clark stated that many commonly
used Florida plantings are not native. . .and. . . .who are we
to tell a professional landscape architect what to plant?"
C.A. B. responds that foreign to the natural environment,
does not mean not native. . . .no one is suggesting that we
exclude plants that are not native to Florida, better
wording may be needed; we do suggest"if they are ill chosen
for this area" . Commissioner Clark overrates the skill
of the landscape architect. Experience has shown that
the C.A. B. can suggest to architects and alternate plantings
suggestions are gratefully received. They are not told,
merely receive suggestions in an attempt to help them to
choose plants that will survive in the community.
Section 5 .c. re: delete "any other item of exterior
furniture"
add the word "fixed" exterior furniture
Section 5.g. All right to delete word all however
do not add "or equal" poor choice height and type
should conform to the drawings and this should not be
weakened, it is not meant to be as restrictive as Com-
missioner Clark seems to feel.
Section 6 .0 c. C.A.B. does not feel that 10% is too
much for green area, almost any plan that has been looked
at has well over 10% . No reason to change, must
have a limit. . . .also . . . this has never been a problem, if
you don' t have numbers and meaningful words, it is difficult
to measure aesthetics.
6.0. d delete as per Mr. Clark ' s suggestion. . . .
"The pavement is to be something more than wall to wall
asphalt. "

It was suggested by a member of the audience, that the
Town Hall and Police Station be better lighted in the
evening.
Also the suggestion was brougtt up as to what can we do to
make the beach more attractive to visitors. One suggestion 6 .
was that the beach be cleaned thoroughly of all man made
objects. After it has been cleaned up once, it would not
be so time consuming for future clean-ups. Perhaps Town
maintenance man can do.
On site inspections have been conducted many, many times in
past years, and it was mentioned that Town administration
has been aware of this fact.
Motion made by Mrs. Becker, seconded by Mr. Beekman to
adjourn the meeting 9.40 P.M unanimous.
Respectfully submitted
