REGULAR MEETING - MINUTES
September 24 , 1992 9: 30 A.M.
Chairman Guy J. Galizia called the Regular Meeting to order in Com-
mission Chambers at 9: 30 A.M. Before proceeding , he acknowledged and
welcomed the new Building Official , Lee Leffingwell .
Deputy Town Clerk Doris Trinley called the roll . Present were the
Chairman , Vice Chair Elvine Gordon and Members John W. Littlejohn ,
Paul Heetmann , Doris Perrone, Frank Arenella and Eugene I . Behrman .
Ms. Leffingwell and members of the general public were also present.
Upon MOTION by MR. LITTLEJOHN/MRS. GORDON, the Minutes of the July 30
Regular Meeting were unanimously approved .
NEW BUSINESS
Preliminary Review for Single Family Structure at 4019 S. Ocean Blvd . ,
Lot 48E. Submitted by John D. Conway, Architect, for Haronian (Owner) .
Mr . Conway spoke for the project as architect and representative of the
owner . He presented an artist ' s drawing of the house , which will be
two-story, approximately 4800 sq. ft . of air conditioned space and in-
clude an elevator and 3-car garage.
Members convened to the table for plan review, where questions asked
were satisfactorily answered by Mr . Conway and Bernard Turner of Mangus
Nurseries .
Concluding discussion and review, Ms. Leffingwell advised that should
the members so decide the project could be given final approval at this
time , and MR. ARENELLA/MRS . PERRONE made the following MOTION:

SHEETS 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 AND 8 AND MANGUS NURSERY AND LANDSCAPE CO.
JOB T92-073 DATED 8/3/92, SHEETS 1 THROUGH 4.
Roll call resulted in unanimous favorable vote .
Preliminary Review for Addition to Second Floor Bedroom in Existing
Single Family Structure at 3921 S. Ocean Blvd . , Lot 55E. Submitted by
Trottco Enterprises, Inc . for Geller (Owner) .

Michael Trotto addressed the Board , explaining he was the the owner ' s
agent, as well as General Contractor for the project, which involved
extending an upstairs bedroom and turning it into an exercise room.

He said the extension would be on the east side , with the finished room
being approximately 11 '6" x 16 ' . Mr . Trotto also presented pictures to
the members of the present roof configuration and explained how the
extension would aesthetically bring the house into "balance."
After discussion and review of plans, it was the decision of the Board
that this review would be a final and MR. LITTLEJOHN/MR. BEHRMAN made
the following MOTION:

Roll Call resulted in unanimous favorable vote.
GREENING COMMITTEE
Mr . Galizia apprised the members of several items, including :
Insurance check had been received for tree destroyed
by auto at 2445 S. Ocean Blvd .
The Greening Committee ' s $50. 00 contribution to the
National Arbor Day Center had been acknowledged .
Townhouses of Highland Beach had allowed the addition
of three (3 ) sprinkler heads to their west side irrigation
system to accommodate plantings near generator housing .
The Greening Committee paid for the work ; Townhouses
of Highland Beach will cover the water used .
Gazebo Nursery had supplied an estimate for the tree
destroyed by auto at 4604 S . Ocean Blvd . , which was
needed for the Police Department when the case goes
to court .
There are several damaged trees near the bridge on the
entrance to Bel Lido Island . Mr . Galizia will contact
Jerry Marshall , President of Bel Lido Homeowner ' s
Association to determine who is reponsible for their
replacement .
While Town trees generally withstood Hurricane Andrew,
the most notable exception being recently transplanted
tabebuia on the north end of Town , anyone wanting to
donate a tree at this time will be asked to wait until
hurricane season is over (November 30 ) .

Through Delray Beach ' s horticulturist, a "Plant Finder"
book has been secured , which lists all available, appropriate
plantings and the nurseries from which they can be obtained .
Mrs. Gordon advised receipt of the computer program re tree surveys
from Tree City USA. She said that after having read the instructions
for the program, she was confident it would serve the Greening
Committee' s needs . Since Mrs . Gordon ' s computer will not accommodate
the hard disk sent, it is being returned for a floppy disk. It was
agreed by all that another tree survey would have to be conducted in
the near future .
The Committee also discussed a form Mrs. Gordon had drafted relative to
tree transplanting requests. It was discussed in detail and Mrs.
Gordon will re-work the draft to include pertinent suggestions
and/or information offered during the discussion .
Mr . Galizia announced the next meeting to be October 29, with the
agenda closing October 15. Mr . Heetmann will be Inspector for the
month of October .
There being no further business to come before the Board , the meeting
was adjourned at 10 : 30 A.M. upon MOTION by MR. LITTLEJOHN/MR. ARENELLA.
