CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD
WORKSHOP MEETING - MINUTES
Wednesday, May 19, 1993 9:45 A.M.
Announcing that Chairman Victor P. Hadeed would be arriving late, Vice
Chair Ellen B. Gerber called the Workshop Meeting to order in Commis-
sion Chambers at 9:45 A.M.
Deputy Town Clerk Doris Trinley called the roll. Present were Mrs.
Gerber and Members Merton Rubin, Arthur Hamerman, Joseph A. Sarubbi
and Leonard D. Bell. Member Russell Richardson was absent.
Also present were Town Attorney Carol Sullivan and Building
Official/Code Enforcement Officer Lee Leffingwell.
Before addressing the agenda, Mrs. Gerber welcomed recently appointed
Member, Leonard D. Bell, to his first CE8 meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
Citations 2340-92, 2340-A-92, 2340-B-92, 2340-C-92 and 2343-93 (All
relating to Royal Cove B & C Site). Chapter 13, Sec. 1 through 3A, 4,
• 5, 6 [Land Clearance].
Ms. Leffingwell advised that the site had been cleared and all vio-
lations corrected; Frank Stack, a limited partner in Royal Cove Joint
Venture, had taken care of the clean-up.
Chairman Hadeed arrived at this time and requested that Mrs. Gerber
chair the Workshop to its conclusion.
Citation 2339-92. Richard Mendelson, 1124 Highland Beach Drive, Block
2, Lot 8, Bel Lido. Chapter 17-2 and 6-30 (b) [Nuisances and Buildings
and Structuresl.
Ms. Leffingwell reported that she had heard nothing from Mr. Mendelson
or his architect since the Board granted a two-month extension (March
17 meetings) to allow time for Mr. Mendelson to go before the Planning
and Community Appearance Boards regarding his proposed remodeling
project; in the meantime, she said, tiles remained stacked on the
roof of his unit, as they had been for about 1-112 years.
Some discussion took place as to possible actions that the Board might
take, during which Ms. Leffingwell asked that the members keep in mind
hurricane season would start shortly and it was imperative, for
safety's sake, that some definitive action be taken regarding the
loose tiles on the roof.
