CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD

Chairman Victor P. Hadeed called the Regular Meeting to order at 9:30 A. M.
Deputy Town C/erk Gretchen Dayton called the rol% Present were the Chairman, Vice
Chair Ellen B. Gerber, Members Merton Rubin, Arthur Hamerman, Leonard D. Be/% and
David Yarosh. Member Joseph A. Sarubbi was absent.
Also present were Code Enforcement Officer Lee Leffingwel% Attorney Larry Corman,
and members of the general public.
APPROVAL OF M/NOTES
Upon MOT/ON by MR. HAMERMAN/MR. RUB/N, the Minutes of the Apri/ 19, 1995
Regu/ar Meeting were unanimous/y approved.
. OLD BUS/NESS
Case No. 2358-95, Raymond Schweikert, Ji , property located at 4426 &4430
Tranquility Drive, Bock 3, Lots 14 & 15, Be/ Lido. /n violation of Chapter 6, Bui/dings
& Structures, Section 128, Approva/requiredforbu/kheads, seawa//s, retaining wa//s;
required notification of abutting property owners; Section 129, /nspection; Section
130, Maintenance.
Ms. Leffingwe/l said the building permit, originally issued to Broward Piling, Co, was
recently transferred to Ray Qualmann Marine Construction, /nc. At the previous
meeting the Board a//owed thirty days for comp/etion of the seawa// repairs, it has
taken Mr. Schweikert close to thirty days to transfer the permit to another contractor.
Raymond Schweikert, Jr. was sworn in at this time and advised the Board that
Broward Piing did not start the repairs as promised. He signed a contract with Ray
Qua/mann Marine Construction, /nc. (a copy of which is hereby made part of these
Minutes). Mr. Schweikert said he will pay Qualmann Marine five thousand do//ars
(5,000.1 today as a down payment to ensure construction commencement.
Mitche// Scavone, General Manager for Ray Qua/mann Marine Construction, /nc, was
sworn in. Mr. Scavone stated they need to rep/ace most of the seawall which requires
casting new pane/s. The cement takes ten days to cure before they can be lifted into
place, thereafter the construction should take approximate/y two weeks with a
completion date by the end ofJune allowing forbad weather and equipmentbreak down.

Mr. Scavone assured the Board that the wall is safe and no threat to the neighbors
seawall, as the /ast forty feet are in good shape. A/so, there is a holly bush growing
a/ong the seawa// acting as a natural barricade.
After hearing a// testimony, and ending discussion, MR. HAMERMAN/MRS. GERBER
MOT/ONED to give Mr. Schweikert an extension until June 30, 1995 to comp/ete a//
necessary repairs to the seawall on property located at 4426 & 4430 Tranquility Drive,
Block 3, Lots 14 & 15, Bel Lido, if repairs are not comp/eted by June 30, 1995 a fine
of $50.00 per day wi// be assessed.
Motion met with unanimous favorable vote.
After further discussion, an AMENDED MOT/ON b y MR. HAMERMAN/MRS. GERBER
was made to increase the fine to S 100.00 per day if the seawa// is not comp/ete/y
repaired by June 30, 1995.

Board.
The next regular Code Enforcement Board Meeting is scheduled for June 21, 1995.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned upon MOT/ON by MRS.
