Pinutes. Highland Beach Town Commission. July 6, 1954 A regular monthly meeting. The meeting was called to order by A~Sayor Smith at x;45 p,m. Also present were Comm. Noble, Skillman & Hertwig, Comm, Harmon was absent, being out of town, N~inutes of the meeting of June 1, 1954 were read and approved on motion of Comm. Noble, seconded by Comm, Skillman and the aff irma# tive votes of all four commissioners present. Town Treasurer Hertwig reported that after general agreement with several of the commissioners he had paid several bills to Howard Lee Cromer for work and materials used in the recent operations related to the treatment of the Town water supply, but that it would seem in order that more specif is authorization of these pay- ments should be made. The items are as follows; Voucher #225 Labor & supervision on plant changes X275,00 " #224 Materials supplied for plant changes X118,89 " X223 H. T. H. for chlorination ~ 66,29 " #222 Inspection & maint, service 2/15-5/15 X210.00 Comm. Noble moved that it be placed in the minutes of this meeting that payment of the of ore-mentioned vouchers numbers 222 223 224 and 225 by the Town Treasurer was proper and correct and that such payments are hereby specif ically ratif ied as such, The motion was seconded by Comm, Skillman and approved by the affirmative votes of all four commissianers present. Comm. Hertwig read prepared Resolution ~ 43, confirming the extra duties of the Town Clerk, and moved for its passage. The motion was seconded by Comm. EQUALIZATION BGARD ON TAX ASSESSMENTS 7/6/54 The meeting was called in accordance with the following notice which comprises page 1 of these mimutes. EQUALIZATION BOARD ON TAX ASSESSMENTS NOTICE OF MEETING TO BE HELD JULY 6, 1954 NOTICE TO ALL Property Owners & Taxpayers of The TOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH, FLORIDA. YOU WILL PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Town Commission of the Town of Highland Beach, Florida, will meet at the Town Hall at Highland Beach, Florida, on the 6th day of July, A.D. 1954, at 2:30 o~clock p,m., as a BOARD OF EQUALIZERS, for the purpose of hearing complaints and receiving testimony as to the value of any property, real, personal, tangible or mined, as fixed by the Town Assessor of Taxes, or perf ecting, reviewing and equalizing assessments of taxes for the year 2954. The Tovrn Commission as a Board of Equalizers, shall have the right to make all inquiries necessary and to take testimony for the pur» pose of determining the value of any property within ss~id Town, in order that the Town Commission may revise and equalize the Town Assessments. Owners and agents of property who desire may appear before the • Town Commissrion and make their complats at that time, and the Town Commission if unable to hear all complaints on that day, will continue in session from day to day for a period of three days or so long as it shall be necessary. This notice is postal on the Town Bulletin Board in the Town Hall in accordance with the Charter Act and the Code of the Town. Dated at Highland Beach, Florida this 5th day of June, A,D. 1954. (Page 2 Ta7inutes:~Equalization Board-Town of Highland Beach 7/6/54 The meeting was called to order at 2:30 p.m, by l~iayor Smith. Also present were Comm. Noble, Spillman & Hertwig. Comm. Harmon was absent being out of town. The Tax Assessor presented the Assessment Roll, of property within the Town of Highland Beach for the year 1954 and the Roll shows the following valuations; 1954 TAX ROLL, TOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH, FLORIDA. Total value of all taxable real property............ 667,810. Total value of all taxable personal property......... 43,374. Total value of all taxable property ~ 711,184,. Value of Exemptions 110,905. Gross total assessed value of all property ~ 822,089, :~~g.c;c::^~;-;~-..t$e~~.;'.~'6-::2.is::x~~::^:~; :: i~'i~'i:i~"it,':~•:?3~s$3R'.g The Commission reviewed the Tax Roll and the assessed valuations as shown thereon and the 1~~~ayor inquired whether there were any property owners or representatives of same present who wished to make any protest or objection concerning the assessment roll. No persons appeared to question or protest the Assessment Roll, and the several commissioners stated that they did not know of any such persons who desired to be heard. After general discussion it was agreed to recess the meeting so as to allow additional opportunity for interested parties to make protest. Comm, Noble moved that the meeting be recessed until 7:30 p,m. on August 3, 1954; that the Town Clerk be instructed to keep regular off ice hours at the Town Hall on July 7th, 8th and 9th, and to have the Assessment Roll available for inspection by any properly interested parties who might wish to examine or protest the assessments, and to present any such protests for considera- tion when this meeting of the Equalization Board is reconvened August 3, 1954.
