Minutes. Highland Beach Town Commission. August 3, 1954. regular monthly meeting. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Smith at 7;50 p.m. Also present were Comm. Noble:, Skillman & Hertwig. Comm. Harmon was absent, being out of town. Minutes of the meeting of July 6, 1954 were read and approved on motion of Comm. Noble, seconded by Comm. Spillman and affirmative votes of all four commissioners present. Town Clerk Hertwig reported that he had discussed with Town Attorney Byrd, the subject of compensation for the various expenses entailed by his wore, and that Attorney Byrd had advised it would be legal and proper for the Commission toprovide an expense account of a pro- per amount for the use of the Town Clerk. Comm. Skillman moved for passage of the following resolution. RESOLUTION No. 45 Approving 50.00 moat y expense account for Town Clerk. VPHEREAS the Town Clerk, in the performance of his various duties for the Town, incurs numerous miscellaneous expenses which in the past have been paid by him privately; AND V'JHER$AS Town Attorney Byrd has advised that it would be legal and proper for the Town Commission to provide an Txpense Account to meet future expenses of a similar nature; NOVA THEREFORE BE XT RESOLVED by The Town Commission of the Town of Highland Beach, Florida, that an Expense Account of Fifty Dollars per month be paid to the Town Clerk out of the Secretarial appro- priation for the current fiscal year and that such Expense Account be authorized and provided in the next annual budget. Noble« Comm. Skillman seconded the motion and it was approved by the affirmative votes of all four commissioners present, Comm. Hartwig read his letter dated 7/26/54 to Air. J. E. Barbcy explaining the status of our water treatment efforts and by general agreement the commissioners approved Comm. Hertwigs proposal that he would keep ~Zr, Barbey informed although there are no conclusive results. from the water treatment at this time. The meeting was adjourned on motion of Coffin. Equalization Board on Taa Assessments. August 3, 1954 Highland Seach Torn Commissrion Completion of meeting recessed July 7, 1954. The resumption of this meeting was called to order by Mayor Smith at 7;30 p,m. on August 3, 1954:. Also present were Comm„ Noble, Skillman and Hertwig. Comm, Harmon was absent, being out of town. Minutes of the first part of the meeting held July 6, 1954 were read and approved on motion of Comm. Noble, seconded by Comm, Skillman and passed by affirmative votes of all four commissioners present. Town Clerk Hertwig reported that as directed by the Board on July '7th, he had maintained regular office hours at the Town Hall, from 8;00 a,m, to 6;00 p.m. on the days of July '7th, 8th and 9th in order to receive any inquiries or protests relating to the Assessment Roll for 1954, and that no persons appeared to make any inquiries or protests. Comm, Hertwig thereupon presented and moved the adoption of Resolution No, 44, approving the Tax Asscssrnent Ro11 for 1954, Comm. Skillman seconded the motion and it was passed by the affirmative votes of all four commissioners present. Resolution No. 44 appears on the next page, page 2 of these minutes.
