1953.06.02_TC_MinutesMinutes--Highland Beach Town Commission-«-June 2, 1953 • (a regular monthly meeting) The meeting was called to order at ?;35 p.m. by Mayor Smith, also pre- sent were Comm.. Noble, Harmon, Skillman & Hertwig. Mr. W. L. Due comma prised the audience, Minutes of the meeting of May 5th were read,and approved on motion of Comm. Harmon, seconded by Comm. Noble and affirmative votes of all five Commissioners present. Town Clerk Hertwig read letter sent by him under date of May 14, 1953, to George S. Brockway, .concerning the matter of improving the duality of the Town water supply. Clerk Hartwig requested that the Commission express its approval of the letter if such were proper. The lette~e wms approved on motion of Comm. Noble, seconded by Comm. Harmon and e~ffirm- ative votes of all five commissioners present. There was discussion about a sign proposed to be erected in the Town limits for the Maltese Gat Restaurant. It was generally agreed that the placing of the sign would be a bad .precedent. Permission for erec- tion of the sign was refused on motion of Comm. Skillman, seconded by Comm. Harmon and approved by affirmative votes of all five commission- ers present. On motion of Comm. Skillman seconded by Comm. Noble and approved by • affirmative votes of all five Commissioners present, at 8;15 p.m. the Commission recessed for a half hour to hold an informal discussion of various angles of the .current problem of improving the quality of the Town Water Supply. There was free and full discussion and Mr. Due was asked to express his views a~ a taxpayer, which he did. There was gen- eral agreement that the Town should do anything within its reasonable powers to correct the existing red water condition. At 8:45 Mayor Smith called the meeting to order for further consider ation of any official business. There 1-as nothing to be taken up and the meeting was adjourned on motion of Comm.
