1953.07.07_TC_MinutesMinutes... Highland Beach Town Commission...July 7, 1953 A regular monthly meeting. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Smith at 7:..30 p,m. Also present were Comm. Noble, Harmon, Skillman 8c Hartwig, Minutes of the meeting of June 2, 1953 were read and approved on motion of Comm, Harmon, seconded by Comm. Noble and the af- firmative votes of all five commissioners present. The Town Treasurer presented a Summary & Analysis dated 6/30/53, showing the Town+s financial position as of June 15, 1953, Copies of the Summary were given to each commissioner, There was discussion of the Summary especially in relation ~$ some expenditures anticipated as necessary to improve the qual- ity of the Town water supply. The Town Treasurer advised that he had submitted a preliminary draft of the Summary to Town Attorney Byrd and to Mr. Thomas M. Cook and that both of them gave their general approval of the proposed means of providing funds for the Water Works improvements if such were necessary, After a general discussion, Mayor Smith stated that would present the Treasurers Summary above referred to as a tentative budget for.° the fiscal year beginning November 1, 1953. Comm. Noble moved that the Treasurers Summary be included in the minutes and accepted as the tentative budget for the fiscal year starting November 1, 1953. The motion was seconded by Comm. Hartwig and approved by the aff irm- ative votes of all five commissioners present. The Treasurers Summary dated 6/30/53 appears on the following page. The meeting was adjourned on motion of Comm. Harmon, seconded by Comm. Noble and affirmative votes of all five commissioners present. Also present were Comm. Nob1e~, Harmon, Skillman & Hertwig. The Tax Assessor presented the assessment roll, of property within the Town of Highland Beach for the year 1953, and the roll shows the following valuations; 1953 Tax Roll, Town of Highland Beach: Total value of all taxable real property $~ 668,622. Total value of all taxable personal property 43,378. " Total value all taxable property ~ 712,000. Value of exemptions 95,85.5. Gross total assessed value all property ~ 8 ,8 , The Commission reviewed the Tax Roll and the assessed valuations ~," as shown thereon and the Mayor inquired whether there were any property owners qr representatives of same present who wis hed to make any ob3ection or protest concerning the assessment roll. No persons appeared to question or protest the Assessment Roll, and the several commissioners stated that they did not know of any such persons who desired to b heard. After general ~~eussion the commissioners agreed to reces the meeting so as to a111ow more opportunity far interested parties to make protest. - ~'`'y Comm. Harmon moved that the meeting be recessed until 7:30 p.m.~'-- Rv~~ on August ]~, 1953; that the Town Clerk be instructed to care- fully keep regular office hours at the Town Hall on July 8th, 9th and 10th, and to have the Assessment Roll available for in- spection by and properly interested parties who might wish to examine or protest the assessments, any such protests to be con- sidered at the meeting of the Board to be held August ~~, 1953.
