April 11, 1951 a continuation-of regularly monthlg meeting recessed 1~/3/5l S The meeting was called to order at 7:54 pm' by Ixayor Totterdale. Present were Comm:'~Dubendorff, Smith, Totterdale & Hartwig. Comm."Heaton was absent. TYiinutes of` the meet ` of i~sarch 6 an€i April 3rd were read and approved on motion of Comte. ~th, seconded bg Comm, llubendorff and affirmative votes of ail four commissioners present. Cow. Hartwig reported a request from W. H. Kirk that hid charge for the water plant inspection service be i~tcreased from X50.00 per month to $70,00 per month. After some discussion, bg general agreement the question was tabl®d for consid®ratioa at a later meeting. Comm. Hertwi reported a visit from Carl G. Edxards of the State Road Dept. at which visit ter. Edwards stated that the ~.oad Dept xaas about to en"orce the sign lax and remove encroaching signs fr+ the AlA rc3ad shoulders and would appreciate it if the Tcn~n would co-operate to the extent of enforcing the law within the Town li~.ts. After some discussion, by general consent the matter was tabled for later consideration. Comm. Hertw reported that as directe8 by the meeting of Larch 6th, he had. consulted the Tcnan Attorneg C Y. Byrd about the 3s~inent pagment in~euded to be made , of the ~500.~0 balances which were still due to t~lr. Byrd,as attorney and to G. W. Brockwag,as engineer. 1'~lr. Byrd t s mice . was that the Town should continue to defer payment of these tv~o amounts until the .end of April at which time the Com¢nission would know just how much tax moneg could definitely be counted on to meet the fixed obligations of the Tom. For the record it should be noted that the Poll©wing residents and/or tax payers were among those in the audience; Norris M. Young, R. Langlois, Nir. & Mrs. R©bert Flandres.ua,&H. F. R. Weber. Mr. H. F. R. Weber presented and read ~/pet~tion signed by a number of residents and taxpayers requesting that the name of the tc~wri be changed. There were two copies of the petition anal there were some remarks to th® effect that they were net alike in some r apects. The Magcir looked over the copies and announced that there were~ignatories to the petition. ,,. Comm: Hertxig stated his reasons for being opposed to the proposed change. Comm. Dubendorff was requested by the clerk to provide proper copies of the petition papers as presented said copies have not been forth coming as these minutes ar®~transcribed on I~ag 1, 1951, therefor the actual petitiosa~ will have to be inserted in the record at a later date. Comm. Highland Beach Town Commission /x/11/51 • After some further discussion Comm. Dubendorffa motion as stated in the precedztg paragraph, wan put t© a vote. Comm. Dubendorff , Smith ,'; _' and Totterdale voted for the motion, Comm. Hertwig voted against its, and the motion was declared passed . Several routine matters were handled later lout the record cannot be c completed in time for preserrtation at the meeting to follo~r. It is suggested that these minutes be approved as incomplete and subject to such corrections and additions as may later be accepted as agreeable to all members of the commission. • ~,_~ ~~'b1/'~ (minutes continued below) ;%~ F r ~ 1 The clerk proceeded to read ORDINANCE X107 which on eb uary , 195 had been placed on first reading and passed at that time; ORDINANCE X107; AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH, TO REDUCE, DURING THE NATIONAL EMERGENCY, THE AMOi7NTS REQUIRED FOR OCCUPATIONAL LICENSES REQUIRED FOR CONSTRUCTION OF BUILDINGS. Comm. Hertwig moved the adoption of Ordinance #107 as read; Comm. Smith seconded the motion and it was passed by affirmative votes of Comte. Dubendorff, Smith, Totterdale and Hartwig. On motion of Comm.. Dubendorff , seconded by Comm. Smith and passed by affirmative votes of all four $otnmissioners present, the treasurer was authorized to pay current bills properly due. The clerk read prepared resolution #19 which was adopted on motion of Comm. Hartwig, seconded by Comm. Dubendorff and affirmative votes of Comm. Dubendorff, Smith, Totterdale and Hartwig.
