Smith and ap- proved by affirmative votes of all four Commissioners present the last part ofr,the ~;,aiutes of the meeting of April. 11th were re~-d and approved. Also the minutes of` the meeting,,,of P~:ay 1, 1951; Also the minutes of the meeting of May 2, 1951.` ;, Taxpayers attending the meeting wer® Nlra. E.L. Chip~,n, Mrs. S G. Roth and Mr, George S. Kinsey. By general consent the usual order of business was set aside so that Ate. Rickett, N~anager of the tel- epho~ae company could explain the policies and diffieultiea of the company attending the issuance of new telephones. Coma. Hartwig read letter frog Comm: Heaton dated day 15, 1951, concerning the questing of rep~r®sentaton o~' private home axaers, and moved that said letter be placed i~a, the minutes. There was no second for the aoti0n and by general consent the letter was accepted and ordered tc~ be filed with the Towx papers. Comm. Hartwig read his supplementary report on ffiatters concerning the water works, disavow~.ng any special responsibility for operation • of the water plant aftsar Map 5, 1951. By general consent the report was ace~pted and ordered filed with the Town papers. Heaton had scat®d he would have to resin for personal reasons but would like same assurance tbrat a private home owner would be designated to take his place. Hestt~ that upo~a receipt of his resignetio`ri, they would ask ~+ir John Harmon to fill out the vacagcy thus created. There was discussion about the building permit recently issued to J. M. S~.th which constitutes an exception to the standard set back requirements. Since the construction consists of a second floor the walls almost necessarily have to be directly over the existing ones which were built prior to the passage of the zoning law. Under the circumstances the smaller set back would seem to be justified but was not explained when the permit was approved. ~$ P Corgi. Hartwig esubaitted a list showing nuaerous errors made in the latest readi~ag of the water teeters, It was decided that p!r Sant Jerkeas apparently was nest qualified for this work. Cosa. Smith took the chair to preside while Mayor Totterdale arnred that ~. H. Kirk should be paid the increased aaount of $?5:00 per xonth for Water works inspection and aster reading service. He stated his opinio~i twat the aaount,paid previously was not enough to insure gc~d results to the~Tvw~t. He requested that the increase be made retro-active to I~ay 1,.1951.
