The regular monthly meeting was card to order at ?:30 p.m.
on January 2, 1962 by Commissioner Tuner. No others were present
except Town Manager Hartwig as it had,~decided to put the meeting
off for one week, s o for lack of a quorum, C omm. Turner declared
the meeting recessed until January 9, 1962 at 7:30 p.m,
The recessed meeting was called to order by Mayor Eypel at ?:30
p,m. on January 9, 1962. Also present were Commis Bertash, Jones,
Roble and Turner and Town Manager Hartwig.
Minutes of the meeting of December 5, 1961 wale read and approved
on motion of Comm. Turner, seconded by Comm. Jones and the affirm-
ative votes of Commis Bertash, Eypel, Jones, Noble and Turner.
There was no dissent.
1`he Town Manager submitted a memo dated January 2, 1962, on the
engagement of a new operator for the Town hater Works and requested
the approval of the Town Commission. After some discussion Comm.
Bertash moved that the arrangement outlined in the Town Manager's
memo be approved. Comm. Noble seconded the motion and it was app
proved by the affirmative votes of Commis Bertash, Eypel, Jones,
Noble and Turner, without dissent. The memo mentioned above follows.
"To the Town Commission, from Town Manager Hartwig, January 2~ 1962.
Wm. O. Abernathy has bean engaged to operate the Town Water Works
in place of Wm. H, Kirk who is retiring on social security as of
January 1, 1962. Mr. Abernathy is to be paid X500,00 per month
for the first three months during which he is to spend practically
all of his time at the water works to do necessary painting and ex«~
tra maintenance work, After the first three months ha is to be paid
X300.00 per month and is to spend as much time on the Sob as is
necessary to operate the plant properly, to do ordinary repairs and
maintenance and to keep the plant in good condition. Approval of
this arrangement is respectfully requested, 6igned, Rudolph W.
Hartwig, Town Manager".
The Town Manager was authorized to reimburse his extra e'cpenses to
the amount of X104.10 as detailed in statement dated 12/18/!31,
Voucher #82?. Also authorized was his expenditure of the aunt of
X150,00 for special seasonal gifts covered b9 Voucher #828. He was
also authorized to make's contribution of X25,00 to the Boca Raton
Firemens Benevolent Associg~ian as per Voucher #829. The motion to
approve the expenditures under Vouchers 827, 828 and 829 was made
by Comm. Turner, seconded by Comm. Jones, and approved by the of
f irmative votes of Commis Bertash, Eypel, Jones, Noble and Turner;
There was no dissent.
