(Highland Beach Town Commission) Assessment The Tax Assessor presented the Taa/Roll of Real Property within the Town of Highland Beach, for the year 1962 and the said Tax Assessment Roll shows the following valuations; 1962 Tea Roll, Town of Highland Beach, Florida. Total value of all Taxable Re a1 Property X5,518,670. Value of Exemptions 105, 500" Gross total assessed value of all Real Property ~ 624,1?0. l~lJ' \ ax Asse or The Commissioners reviewed the Tax Roll and the assessed valuations as shown thereon and the Mayor inquired whether there were any pro- perty owners, or representatives of same, present who wished tp make any protest pr objection concerning the Tax Ro11. No persons questioned or protested the Assessment Roll and the severM al commissioners stated that they knew of no persons who desired to be heard. After further analysis of the assessments, it was agreed to recess the meeting to allow additional opportunity for interested parties to make protest if they so wished. Comm. Jones moved that the meeting be recessed to ?:30 p.m. on August ?, 1962; that the Tax Assessor be directed to keep regular office hours at the Town Hall on July 5, 6 and 9, 1962, and to have the 1962 Tea Assessment Roll available for inspection by any properly interested parties who might wish to examine or protest the assess- ments; to present such protests, if any, for the Board's considera- tion when it again meets on August 7, 1962, an~H if there are no such protests to draw up the usual form of resolution of approval of the Tax Roll, for adoption at such meeting. The motion was seconded by Comm. Noble and approved by the affirmative votes of Commis Bertash, Eypel, Jones, Noble and Turner. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Eypel at `7:30 p.m. on July 3, 1962. Also present were Gomm'rs Bertash, Jones, Noble and Turner and Town Maanager Hertwig. Minutes of the meeting of June 5, 1962 wore read and approved on motion of Comm. Turner, seconded by Comm. Noble and the affirmative votes of Commis Bertash, Eypel, Jones, Noble and Turner. lY The Mayor presented a letter from the Florida Inland Navigational District, dated June 26, 1962, concerning the disposition of fill which may be available from the operation of deepening the channel of the Inland Waterway in 1963. After a brief discussion, by gen- eral agreement the Town Manager was directed to discuss the various questions involved with Col. Shu11, General Manager of the F.I.N.D. and report back to the next meeting of the 8ommission. The Commission considered an application, dated 6/18/62 from Frank L. Bader, request~.dg approval of an undated and unsigned drawing in- tended to cover the creation of a new parking arrangement at Seacliff Apartments. The Town Manager submitted tWo memos dated 6/22,62, com- menting on design, license and various aspects of the proposed work. ,r After examination of the "plan" and discussion of the project, the Commission decided to refuse .approval, mainly on the grounds of in- adequ,,~e design. Comm. Bertash moved that the Mayor and-Town Manager be authorized and directed to advise Mr. Bader that approval is de- nied mainly because the design is inadequate to carry the load in- volved, that any re-submission of the project be based on proper plans by a qualified engineer and that Mr. Bader be fully informed on the Town's license requirements for persons doing work of this nature. The motion was seconded by Comm. Turner and approved by the affirmative votes of Commis Bertash, Eypel, Jones, Noble and Turner. The Town Manager advised that as a result of continuous use of the temporary connection of a meter on the hydrant at the Bel Lido office, a leak had developed from the i~ydrant drain holes and that as a con«~ sequence the water service at that point had been discontinued. He advised that Mr. Homer Martin had inquired into the matter and said he would arrange to have a standard connection made directly to the main to correct the condition. The proposal of Mr. A. H. Walker for arranging a police service, which had been tabled at the meeting of-June 5, 1962, was by general afireernent tabled until the next meeting. The meeting was adjourned on motion of Comm.
