1959.06.09_TC_Minutes Minutes. Highland Beach Town Conmission June 2, 1959. The meeting was called to order at 8 *00 p.a by Mayor Aype1. No one also was present 'e2wept Town Mgr. Hartwig cad for lack' of a quorum Mayor Sypel declared the meeting recessed until June 9, 1959 at 9:30pem Minutes. Highland Beach Town Coaeasissi dune 9, 1959. The meeting was called to order at 9 :45 p.m, by Mayor $ypal. Also Poe- sent were Coma'ro Breckinridge and Noble and Taws Mgr. Hartwig. Com Irs Bertash and Winston were absent, being out of tows. Minutes of the meetings of ?, 1959 May 5, 1959 were read and approved on motion of Comm. Breckimridge, seconded by Cooem. Noble and the affirmative votes of Comm•rs Breokinridge, Bypel and Noble. There was no dissent. Application was read from D. S, Ross for an addition to be ereeted at Nautilus Apartments. Because of un:Usual structural details the members of the Sommission had'dacided to request a certificate of security from a registered'engineer, In lien of such; Yr. presented a letter dated June 3, 1959'frog Jahn B. 3tetton Architect. By general agree- ment the co saiesioners deoided to accept Mr, Stetson* s letter.- Co■■s. Noble moved that the letter be placed on file and that the permit be authorised. The motion was seconded by'Cosm. Breckinridge and approved by the affirmative votes of Coma *rs Breokiaridge, Zypel and Noble., There was no dissent. Referring to the recent dirfieulties - in operation of the Rater works, Town Ngr. Hertwig'requested antthorisation to re- establish the road lead - Ing to the north pump house "so - that It - woU d be more - feasible to carry out proper inspection and mainteaanee of "the ■�, north pump. Co Break- Inridg moved that a the own z* er be authorized to have the road wor done at a cost not to 6=eed'Three Hundred Dollars. The notion was sec- onded by Cost. Noble and approved by the affirmative votes of Cangtre Breckinridge, Itypel and Noble. There was no dissent. The Town Manager referred to the_peniding qu estion of whether it would be proper to permit the placing - of - - the - asphaltic surfaee on the road* In Bel - Lido and read a brief report okplainiag the status __of that matter. Calm. Noble moved that - the "report be included In the minutes and that the Town Manager be'instrooted - to follow course outlined In the report. Coss*. Breckiaridge seconded the Motion, - which was ap- proved by the affirmative votes of Cama"rs Breckiaridge, Z"el and Noble without dissent. This matter is still in abeyance for several reasoas. In accordance with motion passed at the meeting of 5/5/59 there was an inspection of the lime rook base and in thickness the base proved to be adequate. Hosever when the grades were checked there were a n~ber of di~- crepancies including a Difference of opinion as to the Correct grades to be established. The writer has had seeeral discussions about this matter with the office of Brockway, Veber & Brockway and as late as today met there with Mr. ~fillia of Zinke-Smith. Everyone agreed that there seems no way to se~~le this question de- finitly until Mr."George S. Brockway returns to town which should be within a few days: The commission may wish to make some decision on this question with- out waiting for the duly meeting,`so Isuggest that the June meeting be recessed instead of adjourning. Ordinance #118 waa then read in-full after which Comm. Breckinridge mowed that it be approved without change. Com4n. Noble seconded the ffiotion and it was i~pproved by the affiz~matiee votes of Commtrs Breck- inridge, Eypel and Noble. There was no dissent. Town Mgr. Hertr-ig reported that when the mains were flushed on iiay 30 and 31, he learned that in most cases the hydrants cou~D not be *ell flushed because of the ad3acent roadside conditioae. H® especially asked that the eomasssioners notice the condition cf the hydrant near the Norrine Apartments where there ie an obstructing wall.
