1958.08.05_TC_MinutesMinutes. Highland Beach Town Commission. August 5, 1958. A regular monthly meeting. The meeting was called to order at 9:30 a.m. by Mayer ~ypel. No other members of the Commission were present as it was generally known that the Tag Roll for 1958 could-not possibly be completed before the mid- dle of the month. The special meeting was called to order at 9:30 a.m. by Mayor ~ypel for the purpose of considering whether the Mayor and Town Manager should be authorized and directed to take a trip to Jacksonville to attend a meeting of the Florida Inland Navigational District on the 29th day of August, 195`8. _ Ala,1~'ive members of the Commission were pre- sent, having agr d to hold the special meeting and by their signatures following ,~i.eyje t copsent and agreement to hold the meeting. ~. Some months ago Town Manager Hartwig had directed the attention of the Town Commission to the possibility that it might be able to acquire, for a nominal consideration, a eeluable piece of land on the east bank of the FIND Canal. Mr. Hartwig pointed out that, if it could be acquired the land would be a good place to locate a ground storage tank fOr a re- serve water supply, and eventually for other Town purposes such as a fire station and Town Hall. By unanimous agreement the Members of the Town Commission decided that the idea was a good one and while no formal action was taken, the-Town Manager was instructed to work through the Tssn Engineer, Mr. George Brockway, and to lay the ground work, so that the land could be acqui~d for the Town.
