HIGHLAND BEACH, FL 33487 July 20, 2005 Code Enforcement Board Town of Highland Beach 3614 South Ocean Blvd. Highland Beach, FL 33487 Re: Code Enforcement Board Recommendation • Dear Town Commissioners: X/ Y~ L._: As you are aware, the Code Enforcement Board recently resolved a code violation issue, an order of non-compliances and the resulting $250 per day fine. Although the Board was able to enforce and collect the imposed fine in this matter, we are concerned that the $250 dollar per day is not an appropriate deterrent. This fine could be accounted for as a cost of doing business and frustrate the enforcement power of our Board. Therefore, we are recommending that the Town Commissioners review the maximum fines available to our Board in light of the rising real estate market and adjust said powers appropriately. We would recommend some kind of sliding scale which would increase the fines exponentially if the violations continued past the 30, 60 and 90 days mark.
