NIINUTES OF THE
CULTURAL ADVISORY BOARD
REGULAR MEETING
Thursday, November 19.2009 9:30 A.M.
Members Present: Chair Emily Firtell; Boazd Member Sheila Kallman; Boazd Member
Myrna Resnick; Boazd Member Cazol Stern and Boazd Member Rene Yucht. Also
Attending: Town Manager Dale Sugerman, Deputy Town Clerk Valerie Oakes and
members of the general public.
CALL TO ORDER:
Chair Firtell called the Regulaz Meeting to order at 9:30 AM. Roll call was taken by
Deputy Town Clerk Oakes and the Pledge of Allegiance followed.
ELECTION OF OFFICER:
Item removed.
• ADDITIONS. DELETIONS OR ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA:
Chair Firtell requested that item no. 2 be delete from the agenda and add Dr. Sugerman
under presentations (item no. 5).
MOTION: Boazd Member Stem moved to accept the agenda with changes. Board
Member Yucht seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
PUBLIC COMMENTS AND REQUESTS:
No public comments.
Member Yucht -Requested that all funds that aze not spent should be returned to the
donors and not the town commission.
Chair Firtell - Anounced that the Boazd was sunsetted as of December 31, 2009.
Member Stern -Will the monies go towazd Light Up the Holidays?

• Dale Sugerman, Town Manager
Member Stern -What will happen to the money?
Town Manager Sugerman -The monies will be allocated to the Cultural activities. Town
staff will administer events.
Member Resnick -Will the instructors continue? How do we let them know?
Town Manager Sugerman - We will support any activities through December 31. We
will live up to those commitments.
Member Stern -Would the Town want volunteers to help them?
Town Manager Sugerman - I would encourage volunteers but I am not ready to announce
the Cultural Activities Volunteer Program.
Member Yucht -All funds that have not been spent should be given to the donors by a
pro-rated basis.
• Town Manager Sugerman - If the board wants to have those dollars refunded then the
board can make that recommendation to the Town Commission.
Member Kallman -Will the Sweetheart Concert continue?
Town Manager Sugerman - If funds are returned then nothing will be honored after
December 31~`. Reported the funds in the account which should be able to provide for
one more round of events.

MOTION: Boazd Member Kallman moved to add discussion of funding to the agenda.
Boazd Member Stern seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES•
MOTION: Boazd Member Resnick moved to approve the minutes of October 22, 2009,
regulaz meeting. Boazd Member Stern seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS•
A. Light Up the Holidays (Toys for Tots)
Chair Firtell asked that every Boazd member be at the event at 4:30 p.m. The Cultural
Arts Center needs to be opened, and the tables need to be up like a horseshoe.
Member Resnick- Will be there for the beginning portion of the event.
Member Yucht -Will not be there.
Member Stern -Will help setup but will not be at the event.
Member Kallman -Will not be there.
• Member Stern -Will purchase paper goods and plastic tablecloths.
Chair Firtell -Everything is set. Ron Klein and Adam Hasner will be attending the
event. Cancel the December meeting. Thanked all the townspeople for their support of
the Cultural Boazd.
NEW BUSINESS•
A. Discuss Funding
MOTION: Board Member Stern moved to discuss the funds in the Cultural Advisory
Boazd account. Boazd Member Kallman seconded the motion, which passed
unanimously.

Do you wish that the Town keep the Cultural Boazd funds?
Stern - No
Resnick - No
Kallman - No

Firtell - No

• Chair Firtell will send a recommendation to the Town Commission asking them to send
the remaining funds in the Cultural Advisory Board account back to the donors.
ADJOURNMENT•
MOTION: Board Member Resnick moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:15 a.m. Board
Member Kaltman seconded the motion, which passed unaanimously.
