1969.01.25_TC_Minutes MINUTES: WORKSHOP MEETING OF TOWN COMMISSION January 25, 1969 A Workshop meeting was held at the Town Hall on Saturday January 25, 1969 at 9:40 A. M. All the Commissioners were present. Also present .. were Messers. Timothy B~-rrows, Veer and Kemery and Mrs. Betty Ro-6h. ~---R • Mayor Horton introduced Mr. Harrows who then explained that he could ' go over all the Ordinances and rewrite them, stating that the Town must have strong Ordinances, and should have laws to control the ,~~>j growth in the Town.He further suggested that an architect or landscape '" architect serve on an appearance board, and that screening of parking, set backs, lighting control, and a certain percent of property for .landscaping could b'e written into new Zoning Ordinances. Mr. Burrows also warned the Commission as to the possibility of a solid wall of ~"ter high rises East of AlA and one long parking lot West of AlA and ex- plained that to provide a buffer zone as to height and set backs the whole Town should be rezoned. Mr. Beekman said that he would prefer to accept recommendations from Mr. Burrows. Mr. Horton said that he was concerned about Bel Lido and also added that a large tract south of Town was sold to a Pennsylvania builder for development in the near future. Mayor Horton suggested that in as much as this was only a work- shop meeting, after the Finance committee had investigated as to the cost of retaining Mr. Burrows it could be put as a motion before the Town meeting. The Commission will write an agreement to hire Mr. Burrows to review and rewrite the Zoning Ordinances, putting an outside limit on his time on an hourly basis with the Finance committee to see how the Town stands in its budget so a proposal can be made at the next Town meeting. The Town Attorney would make the final review.of the rewritten Ordinances. Mayor Horton read a letter from Mr. Don Ross about cleaning up a lot adjacent to the North of the Nautilus so he can sell the property. It will be reread at the Town meeting in as much as it is an Ordinance and has to be acted upon. He also read a letter from the Winterhalter Inn about the adding of a bar, lounge and restaurant in the future. S?he~~are officially requesting a variance in the zoning to permit biulding a de- luxe type restaurant either on the Canal or Ocean side and want- this to go on record. Mayor Horton read a letter from the architect for the Marina clarifying set backs, specifications and the materials to be used in construction. Mrs. Noble explained that Russell Rd. will be 50' wide and that they are not aware of this for a proper set back. A site plan was submitted and the name changed to Sporting Goods and they want action. The council is not accepting the request at this time objecting to;;,live bait sales, which is considered obnoxious and not part of a Sporting Goods Store. A letter is to be sent by the Town Attorney stating such. Vice Mayor Noble has asked to be relieved and that the Town should consider getting Commissioner as she is resigning soon.
