CULTURAL SOCIETY BOARD
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
February 28 2008 9:30 A.M.
Chair Emily Firtell called the regular meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. In attendance were
Vice Chair Riia Futernick, Lois Feldman, Bettie Altman George Kelvin and Myrna
Resnick. Sheila Kallman was absent.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion was made by Emily Firtell and seconded by Lois Feldman to approve the
minutes from January 3, 2008 regular meeting and January 14, 2008 regular meeting.
Motion carried unanimously.
PRESENTATIONS
Phyllis Riger Emmett — Artist / Teacher Watercolor Workshop
MOTION was made to have Phyllis Ringer Emmett teach Watercolor classes Motion
carried unanimously. Classes will be held in the Cultural Room on Tuesdays 1:00 pm —
4:00 pm. For a 4 week session. The cost of this class will be $100.00. There will be no
classes scheduled for July and August.
is George Kelvin will provide disc to make flyers and hand out.
Start Date for these art classes will be March 4, 2008.
NEW BUSINESS
Cultural Board members are urged to get invoices from the entertainers on the day of
event to ensure they get paid in a timely manner.
Thank you Commissioner Newill for always being supportive with your donations.
The 2008-2009 calendar will be on the next agenda, 2008 calendar Mr. Kelvin will chair
the Art show.
2008 — 2009 calendar schedule is complete, nothing more can be added once calendar is
scheduled.
Riia will be the contact person for anyone wanting to contact artist. Lois Feldman will
type the Artist contact list.
Chair Emily Firtell will write up rules for the Cultural Board performers.
The Cultural Board fundraising newsletter will be going out in March.
• The Cultural Board has applied for a Grant for $15,000.00

The Fundraising cookbook will be placed on the March agenda, with cookbook coming
out next year, perhaps coordinating with the library and have cookbook be a joint project
would be welcomed.
The Cultural Board is very grateful to Ruth Samuels and Ethel Hofmann for sharing their
information on fundraising cookbooks.
BOARD INFORMATION
Bettie Altman — Thank you plaques have been on hold, plaques will be needed by April.
Riia Futernick — Reservation policy working well, no objections. Paul Golden concert
stands at 70 reservations.
Lois Feldman — Perhaps the Cultural Board should look into holding concerts in a larger
room.
With no further business to come before the Board, MOTION to adjourn was made by
George Kelvin and Riia Futernick at 10:45 a.m.
