GENERAL BOARD INFORMATION
• Ms. Firtell acknowledged the passing of Board Member Riia Futernick and spoke about
her involvement with the Board. She also noted that along those lines, a new Vice -Chair
will need to be appointed, and asked that the members consider the position. Art classes
and reservation taking will also need to be filled, formerly done by Riia. Gladys
Newmark who teaches the beading classes will not have summer sessions due to her
students leaving for the summer. The classes will reconvene September 1, 2008.
Chair Firtell asked the members to check their mail folders more frequently. The Board
is featured in the next Highlander, and the Board's own newsletter will go out in the
September/October timeframe. She will present the 2008/2009 calendar to the Town
Commission in June. Myrna Resnick gave an update on the wall plaque, starting at
$80.00, suggesting something similar to the tree plaques in the hallway.
To recap, all sponsors up to the $500 level will get a brass plate on the plaque — all others
will be highlighted in the Newsletter, and can be framed and hung somewhere. Plaque
will have a "title" on the top of it. i.e. Town of Highland Beach Cultural Board.
Plaque will recognize two founding members, Riia Futernick and Jack Glazer. Target
date is September to get the information compiled. Judy Brodman will do the newsletter,
and Emily needs a count of names.
BOARD CORRESPONDANCE
Received a charitable gift awarded as a grant of $1,000 to the Cultural Board made at the
recommendation of Joel and Blanch Sipher (sp), from their Charitable Gift fund.
