MINUTES TOWN COMMISSION OF HIGHLAND BEACH WORKSHOP October 15, 1968
A workshop meeting was held. at the Town Hall Tuesday 15th at 7:30 P.M.
All Commissioners and the Town Manager were present.
Mr. Folgham, who plank to build multiple units in Highland Beach Isles,
was present to inquire about the Town's plans for sewerage. He
was advised that some preliminary study has been made and further
engineering reports will be required. Much discussion followed on
the subject and it was decided that a meeting with some engineering
firms would be arranged.
Commissioner Hackman reported some problems at the Water plant. The
lime pump must be replaced immediatly. One quotation has been
obtained. The Permutit Corp is to relocate the lime feed line on
the spiratcor. There is some question about the orifice on #3
pump. Mr Meeks •f Brockway, Owen, & Anderson and Mr Beeker of the
County Board of Health visited the plamt with Commissioner
Hackman on the 11th and made some recommendations. Mr Hackman also
read a letter directed to the State Board of Health, asking for further
advise.
Mowing and general "clean up" at the plant was discussed. The Town
Manager reported that the LP Gas Company have checked the leak
pm the new line and will make the necessary repairs. Mel Mar has
been contracted to do the mowing. Harvel & Deland have notified
the window contractor to make the necessary caulking on the windows.
Mr. Barrie Burnside, as a member of the Public Works Committee,
submitted. a report of the condition of the auxiliary engine on
#1 pump and included his recommendations for further repairs and,'~or
replacement of the engine.
Vice Mayor Noble advised the Commission of the nees to rezone
lots 22 & 22, black 2 of Bel Lido because of a hardship in the
case of two adjoining lots facing ~n AlA. The two parcels
facing AlA are nonconforming according to our Zoning Ordinance.
The Bel Lido property Owners Assoc. have expressed an agreement
to making such a change. The necessary hearings and advertising
will be arragged.
Commissioner Hackman reported some dissent from the residents in
Byrd Beach in regards to the tax millage and the postal
installation.
Mayor Horton reported that the ad hoc committee for police
protection had met with the principals and attorneys. Insurance
to protect the Town is still a major factor. Robert C. Roy
agency will •btain the information for us.
