MINUTES TOWN COMMISSION OF HIGHLANB BEACH WORKSHOP OCTOBER,®9, 1968
• A workshop meeting was held at the Town Hall Tuesday October 29th
at 7:30 pm. All Commissioners and the Town Manager were present.
Mayor Horton, Commissioner Hackman, and several others had
contacted county commissioner George Warren to ask if there
was any thing we could do to~~aid in the matter of sand. south
of Boynton inlet. Mayor Horton read a reply to the inquiry from
Commissioner Warren.
Mayor Horton reported that Commissioner Hackman and Commissioner
Beekman met at the office of the postmaster and the contract for
the bracnh station was transfered to the Town. A request was also
made to increase the budget to $600.00. Extra help for the office
was discussed and it was agreed that 20 to 25 hours a week extra
help would be ample.
Tkhe status of the DELRAY-BY-THE-SEA property was discussed.
Robert Roy Insurance agency forwarded a copy of a policy for
false arrest insurance coverage. Mayor Horton read the policy and
it was discussed. Mr. Stewart will report on this matter at
the next Town Meeting.
The Town Manager was asked. to contact attorney Richard Mowery
about the Delra~Z Beach White House property.
• Securing of bids for painting Town Hall was discussed,l Mrs Mognet
reported. that the bids will all be available for the next
regular meeting.
Some discussion was held on the need to upddte our zoning
ordinances. Vice Mayor Noble reminded the commission again
of the importance of this matter in view of the anticipated
building in the next few years.
The Southern Standard Plumbing Code was discussed. It was
presented. by our building inspector, Mr Crego, and he suggested
we adopt the code. It was decided we would. make further study
on the matter.
A letter to the Commission from Highland Beach Apartment Owners
Association was read, asking for a postponment of the
reading of the sign ordinance until after the next meeting of
the association November 10. Some of their recommendations
were reviewed and open discussion followed.
Some discussion was held on our need for sewer lines and the
posibility of tying on to Delray Beach system. The question
was raised about the county .property owners between us and
Delray city limits, and to whom they would look for service
in the future. Commissioner Hackman was asked to investigate
• their feelings on this matter at his convenience. Mayor Horton
reminded. the commission that Commissioner HackmanTs work load
with public works and water committee, as well as personal
business, is very heavy and proposed the appointment of an
ad hoc committee on the water plant. This was agreeable with
Commissioner Hackman. Mayor Horton stated that he would find
persons who had adequate time to devote to this problem.
