MINUETS: WORKSHOP MEETING TOWN COMMISSION HIGHLAND BEACH
November 26, 1968
• A workshop meeting was held at the Town Hall on November 26, 1968 at
7:30 pm. All Commissioner and the Town Manager were present.
The sign ordinance was reviewed with corrections as recommended by
the sign ordinance committee. The square footage of signs and the
number of signs per front footage was discussed. Limit of the size
of temporary signs to 50 square feet was approved and two signs
for properties having 200 feet or more fDOnt footage.
Town Limits sign on the south line was discussed.
The transfer of tax monies to other accounts was discussed. The fund
budgeted for Road and Bridge Funds will be placed in a seperate account.
Purchase of treasury bills and a seperate account for the Utility Fund was
agreed upon. Commissioner Mc Cook will make the necessary transfers.
Commissioner Beekman reported that he and Mr Burndide have done the
measuring for the library shelves.
Mayor Horton reported that the police contract is still in the hands
of the attornies.
Mayor Horton reported that he had discussed a decorative-fence at the
plant with Mr Young of the city of Boca Raton. Mr Young feels that the
. city of Boca Raton will go alnog with our suggestion to use plantings
for screening.
An ordinance is beigg drafted to be presented at the next regular
meeting to re-zone lot 22 block 2 in Bel Lido.
Commissioner Hackman reported he has received complaints about dogs
running free on the beach.
Mayor Hortpn read a letter from Harvel & Deland asking for balance of
payment due on payment requresition number 51 which was submitted in
August. Open discussion followed on work not yet completed at the
plant. No action was taken. Mayor Horton asked Commissioner Beekman
to have a committee,Saturday morning, at the water plant to check
caulking of the windows and any other responsiblties for which
Harvel & Deland may be held.
