MINUTES TOWN MEETING OF HIGHLAND. BEACH DECEMBER 3, 1968
The regular meeting of the Town Commission was called to orderL~~y Mayor
• Horton on December 3rd at 7:10 P. M. Comm. Noble and McCook were absent.
All others were present.
The minutes of November 5th regulsr meeting, workshop meetings of Nov.
19 amd 26th were read. All minutes stood as read by the affirmative
vote of all present.
Mr. Duffy reported. meeting of volunteer firemen Tuesday, Dec. 10 at
Fire station-8 applications have been received.
Letter from Martin Gaudian requesting permission to erect a fence on
south border; was referred. to Zoning Commission. Also a letter from
Mrs. Houck requesting water and. paving of Russell Drive; was referred
to Public Works and. Water Commission. Also letter from Winter Halter
Inn notifying the Town they have entered a suit against the County.

Resignation of Town Manager read (separate page). Steps taken to replace

Hackman reported the chlorinator is repaired, suggested Wallace & Tiernan
requisition be paid, and ex ressed gratitude to Col. Burnside for all help.

Bel Lido bridge approach fixed by Carr Paving Co. The balance of job will
be completed this week.
Comm. Hackman reported he has been advised the Southern Biulding Plumbing
Code not be adopted. In the opinion of a professionsl plumber it is in-
sufficient and it was suggested it be turned over to Mr. Vedder's comm-
ittee for study.
Mr. Vedder reported. that Russell & Axon expressed an opinion that our
best probable solution will be to tie onto Delray or Boca rather than
• biuld our own Sewage plant which would be most costly.
Mr Pond asked the zoning board what height biuldings are allowed. Mayor
Horton advised Mr. Pond that our present ordinance restricts height toy

• 100' or 10 stories. the suggested land use study would gige answers and
promise a more restrictive control on future biulding. Mr. Pond expressed
a desire ro restrict height to 7 stories.
Col. Burnside reported as a matter of information t~ those present that
his committee do not operate the water plant, but are strictly co-ordin-
ators.
Police report; Mr. William Stewart reported the insurance can be had-
$250.00 to cover sherriff dept. and. $500.00 to protect the town.

Mr. Young of Monterey House etitioned the Commission to ~e a sign

Bills and accounts were read. and approved for payment. B=Q Q:.:_:_.~+-e ate
for $115.00 foraroad at water plant put.-~z. Motion to pay by Comm. Beek-
man and. seconded by Comm. Hackman, and. approved by all present.
Comm. Hackman stated after the Saturday meeting the paying of balance of
Harvel and Deland will be possible.
Purchase of shelving for library will cost approximately $60.00 as repor---
ted by Comm. Beekman.
Mrs. Bertash reported. the Co. Sanitation came too early, asked if any-
thing can be done about it. Mrs. Stewart voiced a comment that single
