1967.01.17_TC_MinutesMINUTES: HIGHLAND BEACH TOWN COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING IANUARY 17, 1967
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hackman at 8:10. Commissioner Hackman,
Bunn, Noble and Wingle were present. Commissioner Johnson was absent.
Bids for the fire station construction were submitted and opened as follows:
1st. Star Horse Ranch & Construction $12,995.00
(Not to include piling)
2nd. Campbell Construction $14,400.00
(Not to include piling)
3rd. Al Di Vagno $12,998.85
(Not to include piling)
Public Works Commissioner Wingle proposed to accept the bid of $12,998.85,
submitted by Al Di Vagno, as he has shown sincere interest and was the only
contractor who was present. Commissioner Wingle made a motion to this effect,
which was seconded by Commissioner Noble. All Commissioners were in agree-
ment .
Open discussion followed on many subjects, the first of which was an inquiry from
Mr. Pat Galvin as to the Commissioners feelings about construction of a restaurant
on the last property on the South limits . It was agreed that the investors should
present their plans and requests at the next meeting, February 7th.
Dr. Dailey reported that the Carlton House water meter must be changed. The plans
called fora 4" meter and the temporary 2" meter is still in use . Due to the cost of
the larger meter it was determined that a written order and agreement be obtained
from the residence before the meter is ordered.
Zoning in Highland Beach Isles was discussed, also the ruling on no single
residence in multiple zones was discussed.
Dr. Dailey asked about whether or not we should request performance bonds on the
contractors for the water plant . It was decided that further information should come
from the Engineers and the Town Attorney.
Meeting was adjourned 10:30 P. M. on motion by Commissioner Bunn, seconded by
Commissioner Wingle.
