MINUTES: HIGHLAND BEACH TOWN COMM~SSON -SPECIAL MEETING
FEBRUARY 5, 1966 - 10:00 A.M.
All town commissioners met with Mr. G. F. ~'tie~nan and Mr. M. W. Chadwick, repre-
senting Bel Lido developers, and Town Attorre~ Donald Reed, to discuss installation of
some street lights in the subdivision, and maintenance of planned landscaping at the
entrance .
Commissioner Jones reported on his talk with Mr. Charles Senior of Florida Power & Light
Co. He stated that the cost per light was based on the strength or power of the light and
quoted prices of $2.40 for 4500 Lumens, $3.10 for 7000 and $4.20 for 11000, per light per
month; that lights could be installed on present poles, and, after the town had made some
decision on initial installation needs, the light company would make a survey and submit
placement recommendations. Also that a letter from the mayor or town manager would be
needed, and approval of the commission should be recorded in the town minutes. Mr.
Rieman and Mr. Chadwick felt that two lights in Bel Lido would be needed in protecting
the new construction and the commission agreed that they would also discourage the party
parkers and that twelve, or possibly more, should be installed on A-1-A with a final de-
cision of size and number to be determined later.
Mr. Chadwick advised that the Bel Lido entrance landscaping plans were still not com-
pleted and explained that the entrance would be attractive, but designed for minimum care,
which he thought the town should assume . Noting that the entrance would be on town
owned property, the commission agreed to accept this responsibility, which could be
handled, without additional cost, by the equipment maintenance man that will probably be
needed for the new water plant.
Mr. Rieman concluded by saying that they expected to interest other lot owners in organi-
zing aBel Lido Property Owners Association for subdivision betterment.
