MINUTES: HIGHLAND BEACH TOWN COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING JUNE 27, 1966
10:00 A. M.
Commissioners Hackman, Bunn, Noble and Johnson were present. Commissioner Jones
was absent.
Town Manager Dailey presented plans for the new fire station submitted by architect,
Timothy H. Burrows, and also his request for approval of a standard form of agreement
between owner and architect. It was agreed that the plans met the needs and require-
ments of the fire department and the agreement form quoting a fee of 9-3/4 % of the
total cost of the building was a standard rate. After noting how helpful Mr. Burrows
had been in working with the Zoning Committee Commissioner Noble moved that the fire
house plans and the architect agreement be approved and accepted. Commissioner
Bunn seconded the motion and all Commissioners present voted in the a#firmative.
Town Manager Dailey advised that he had contacted various contractors for a price to:
build a new pump house at the water plant but most of them were reluctant to bid on
such a small job. He stated that Paul Louden Builders and Blair Construction Company
had given him figures that he felt were too high, and he had talked with Wm. P. Merrill,
who believed, with usable material salvaged from the garage which he was tearing down,
the pump house could be built for about $325.00, or less than half the price of the low-
est bid. It was agreed that- construction with hired town workmen seemed to be the best
solution and Commissioner Bunn moved that iulr. Wm. P. Merrill be authorized to build
the pump house. Commissioner Johnson seconded the motion and all Commissioners
present voted in the affirmative.
. Town Manager Dailey stated that after the initial street light installation, he and
Commissioner Jones had received a number of calls requesting additional lights at
various locations. After discussion, it was unanimously agreed to authorize Florida
Power and Light Company to install eight more lights at selected locations.
Meeting adjourned at 11:30 A. M.
