at twelve noon Nlay b, lgb4, also present were Comrr~. 3eekrn.an,
Jones, and Noble and Tewn Nlgr. Hertwig; l-~ayor Arthur Pypel
was absent.

proved on the motion of Comm. Noble, secondp•"~ by Comm. Jones
and the affirmative votes of Co7Ym. Jones, Beekman, ~Ioln?le and
Turner.

=1 special meeting was then held. in accordance with the
Town ordinances to canvas and confirm the results of the
Town .Election of May S, lqb~..
The meeting was called. to order at 12.:1 PI~i by Vice-
Mayor Turner. Also present were comm. Beel~nan, Jones €c
Noble and Town Mgr. Hertwig. Mayor Arthur .Eypel was absent.
The election board. presented their certification, of the
election results and delivered the ballot box with the tall;v
• sheets and other papers bearing on the election.

By general agrernent the Town 1°lanager a.nd Commissioners
expressed their appreciation and thanks to the following
members of the Hlectian Baar,~ dor their services during the
election. (Mr. I1enry C. Calhoun, willi^m S. Rupp, Lester
~i. Stoothoff ~~ Julius F. Lineberger}
Town Clerk Beekman then asked harold ~~'. Johnson, as the
new Town Clerk to subscribe to the Hollowing Oath;

protect and defend the Constitution and Government of th.e
United States and of the State of 1' lorid.a against all enemies,
domestic or forei~~n a.nd that I will bear true .faith., loyalty
and alle~~ianee to the same and that Z am entitle to hold off-
ice under the Constitution of the Ignited Sta-i~es anc~ of Florida
and that I will faithfu_l..ly perform all the d~a.ties of the office
of Town C1.erk Commissioner on which I am about to enter, sea
help me God.
New To~r?n Clerk Johnson then swore in the new town offic-
ials = T~layor Hackman, Vice l~'sayor Bunn, Commissioners No~ale
and Jones with the usual oath. .~
• At this point Vice Mayor Turner turned the meeting over
to the new AZayor Hackman and the four elected. commissioners.
~~ith ~Zayor Hackman presiding, after some laudatory re-
marks relative to t'ne past anr,'. preGent, Comm. Bunn moved the
appointment of ~ennath. r~. i)ix as town attorney to succee~
sedney, Johnson an^ Lilienthal as town attorneys for. the same
basic annual reta:Lner of ~ 3OO.C~O to coy°er o"~'ice consultations.
After disau.ssion, Comm. Jones secon.~ed. the motion and. a.11 five
comr~.issionere voted in the affirmative.
There was considerable discussion relative to the appoint-
ment of. Harold T. Lailey as Town it'lanager and. l~lr. Hartwig
agreed to function until T~a.y 31, l~,'61.~ but only as Town ~Tgr.
after more discussion, Comm. ?3unn moved to have n•Zr. Hartwig
continue as Town Manager until May 31, 164 and that Tir. Dailey
be appointed as Town Mgr. from June 1, 1~6I~. Comm. Johnson
seconded and. all five commis ~ oners voted 9_n the af~'irmati.ve.
Mr. Dix and 1'7r. Dailey were then s*~orn in by `Eo~.~r. Clerk
Johnson as Town attorney anc' Town Mana.aer with tie v.sual oath.
Corn~nissioner Jones moved that the bon~:s and interest due
on the water plant June 1, lr=~,l~. be paid. as usual. Com.~r!. Noble
