All commissioners were present. Attending and representing various interests were Mr. John Grant, Jr. Con- salting Engineer, Mr. Jean 9ansant, Engineer, City of Boca Raton, 2~, Pat Galvin, representing Caribean Keys and Mr, Thom-Erling, representing Florida Boca Raton Housing Corporation. ~ ~~`t'"° cL. Mr. Thom-Erling and Mr. John Grant, Jr. mod access oad to be construct- .. ed by Florida Boca Raton Housing Corporation'`from State Road AlA West to their property (l~7. acres) i.n the rear on the Intracoastal Waterway. The. paving plan shows two parrallel 20 foot roads with a center parkway or media 20 feet wide and two 20 foot areas to the. North and South sides of the roads, a total^100 feet. These roads shall be constructed in accordance with the State Road Department specifications. After a lengthy question and answer period, the commissioners felt that the proposal would be an asset to the town and by general agreement moved an approval subject to a written request by Florida .Boca Raton Housing Corp. Mr. Jean Vansant , Engineer of Roads and Bridges - Boca Raton, talked to the group about future planning on new roads and bridges, exp~inging that this might seem premature at this time, but it was necessary to avoAd some of the mistakes of neighboring cities. From a largeetetailed map of Palm Beach County he pointed out the existing roads and bridges. He stressed that with the natural growth of the county, plus the increase in population due to new schools and colleges, there will be a definite need for more roads and bridges in the not too distant future. He pointed out several possible roads and bridge locations with alternate choices, if rights of way were not readily obtainable. He concluded by advising that now is the time to give this matter serious thought. With no formal action needed the Commission thanked Mr. Vansant and asked that he contact them on any future developments. Af ter the group left, the meeting continued. Ordinance #125 was read, pro- viding as follows; TOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH, FLORIDA OR^INANCE #125. (~N ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, TOWN QF HIGHLAND BEACH, F'I;OR:EDA BE A~4ENDED BY REVISING SECTION G OF ORDINANCE 106 of said Code;' providing height limitations of fences, walls and hedges; repealing all or- dinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith.) After some discussion relative to the various heights, set back lines, and other provisions, it was agreed that the ordinance was equitable and in accord i~ith the thinking and suggestions of mares of the property owners. Commissioners Bunn moved that Ordinance #125 be passed as read and posted on the Town bulletin board. Comma. Jones seconded the motion. All five commissioners voted in the affirmative. PAGE lI After pass ng Ordinance #125 on its first reading, Mayor HaciQnan and Town Manager Dailey advised that considerable maintenance work would have to be done at the Water Plant, such as painting repairing doors and windows, cl::aning up the grounds etc. and that these items should be taken care of as quick],; as possible.
