1973.03.27_TC_Minutes_WorkshopMINUTES: WORKSHOP MEETING OF THE TOWN COMMISSION - MARCH 27, 1973 - 7:40 P.M, The workshop meeting of the Town Commission was called to order by Mayor Horton on Tuesday, March 27, 1973, at 7:40 P.M, Present were Mayor Horton, Vice Mayor Dent, Commissioner Gilday, Town Administrator, Mrs. Roberts, Fire Marshall, Al Ulrich, and several Town residents. The Mayor introduced Fire Marshall Ulrich and discussion was held regarding sprinkler systems in common gathering areas of apartment buildings, what is required in adjoining communities and further fire control measures, toward amending the Fire Prevention Ordinance. It was suggested to invite Presidents of the apartment building associations to the next regular meeting, The proposed time off for illness policy was discussed after being read by Commissioner Gilday. Action will be taken at the regular meeting. Commissioner Gilday read the probation period policy for the Police Depart- ment submitted by Chief Jones and it was approved. Chief Jones will be drawing up a pay scale for his department, in the near future. Vice Mayor Dent reported Mr. Urbanek had informed that lift stations might be located on the Ocean Terrace and Whitehouse properties and the interim sewage treatment plant just north of the Church property. He further reported that a public hearing by the Planning Board will be requested on these. There was discussion on the proposed Seawall Ordinance amendments. Commissioner Gilday reported still researching as a result of the letter received from the Town attorneys requesting increased fees. Mrs. Roberts reported contacting the Sanitation Department in the County to obtain help for the rat problem near the Nassau apartments. She further reported on the bids received, for the automatic device on the gas pumps in the water repump station and recommended accepting the bid of $2,124.00 submitted by J. P. Carroll plus a maximum of $500.00 for the electrical installation. Tentative approval was given to order the equipment, which could take a month. The meeting adjourned at 9:50 P,M. °; ~ ~._. ~ ..
