MINUTES: WORKSHOP MEETING OF THE TOWN COMMISSION - MAY 12, 1973 - 10:40_A.M.
Following the Special Meeting of today's date, the workshop meeting of the
Town Commission was called to order by Mayor Horto~t, all Commissioners were
present.
The proposed Fire Ordinance amendment was read and discussed. Commissioner
Joy suggested that additional information should be gathered as to the design
of elevators or how they are operated in case of fire. Accordingly, the
Ordinance will be held in abeyance pending the presentation of the additional
material.
The proposed Food Hygiene Ordinance was discussed at length. The second
reading is scheduled for the next regular meeting.
Mayor Horton suggested that the new Town Attorney should handle the Steinhardt
matter, including complaints about the condition of the building on the property.
The date for Dedication of the new Town Hall was discussed and set tentatively
for Sunday, July 1 at 4:00 P.M. Included in the discussion were types of
refreshments, furnishings in the new building, invitations to be printed and to
whom the invitations will be sent.
Commissioner Joy reported that it was decided to vent the Lift Station on
Russell Road up the one side of the Town Houses at a cost of approximately
$325.00. He further stated that the filters need cleaning at the Water
• Plant and he told Mr. Jesse Arney to hire someone to help him. Commissioner
Joy suggested that the Town have a generator installed to service the Firehouse,
Police Station and the New Town Hall in case of power failure. Mrs. Roberts
is reviewing this matter and will advise the Commission, Also discussed
was whether to request funds for a bicycle path from the County at this time.
The meeting adjourned at 12:00 Noon.
