• MINUTES: PUBLIC HEARING HELD Jul 25 1973 - 1:30 P,M.
This Public Hearing was called for the purpose of informing the residents of
the Town of Highland Beach of proposed amendments to Zoning Ordinance No. 198,
as amended) ,~he Comprehensive Land-use Plan, and the Map. These recommendations
were set Borth in a letter addressed to the Mayor and Town Commission of Highland ?~` ~ '~" "'"
Beach by the Highland Beach Planning & Zoning Board. Due notice was given of thtdJ
hearing in the Sun-Sentinel and the Palm Beach Post Times on July 10 and 19, 1973.
The proposed amendments include the following:
1. Zoning for Municipal Services; Amendment to Comprehensive Plan and
Zoning Ordinance No. 198,
2. Parking Regulations - Front and side set backs for parking area;
Amendment to Zoning Ordinance No. 198,
3. Setting of maximum number of dwelling units in RM and RPUD districts;
Amendment to Comprehensive Plan and to Zoning Ordinance No. 198,
4. Proposed revision of procedures, requirements and criteria for RPUD
Amendments; Amendment to Zoning Ordinance No. 198, Sections 6.4, 6.5,
6.6, 6.7 and 6.8 and, to the extent necessary, revision of the
Comprehensive Plan.
Present were The Mayor, Vice Mayor, Commissioners Gilday and Joy, the Town Administrator,
• the Building Inspector, a member of the press, and interested Town residents.
The Mayor requested the residents to ask questions as to any provisions which he
would read, and he would explain the matter in detail.
Mayor Horton read, in detail, the first 11 pages of 14 pages of the proposed
ordinance which has its first reading at the regular meeting held on July 3, 1973.
The last three pages, he gave summaries of each section, In conducting the public
hearing the Mayor read, explained, and invited inquiries for all sections of the
aforesaid proposed ordinance. Discussion took place through-out the meeting.
Several times questions were raised which were not germane to the subjects of the
hearing; the Mayor replied and thanked the residents. Mayor Horton spoke of the
legal requirements. The residents were informed that formal action will b8 taken
at the regular meeting on August 7, 1973.
Vice Mayor Dent offered several revisions, which were made by Mr. Abernathy. The
Mayor advised that changes, if any, will be appropriate at the time formal action
is to be taken.
There was no objections to the proposed actions.
The hearing adjourned at 3:20 p.m,
