SPECIAL MEETING OF THE TOWN COMMISSION - SEPTEMBER 19, 1972
• The special meeting of the Town Commission was called to order by Mayor
Horton on Tuesday, September 19, 1972 at 9:30 A.M. Present were Mayor
Horton, Commissioners Joy and Mumford, Mrs. Roberts, Mr. Foster and
several interested Town residents.
Mr. Foster presented several sets of building plans for Town Commissionfs
consideration: 1. Building permit application for a residence on Lot 32,
Block 4 and Lot 7, Block 3 in Bel Lido,submitted by Ceprano Construction.
These both have been approved by the Bel Lido Association and the building
department. Commissioner Joy moved to grant issuance of the permits and
Commissioner Mumford seconded. Approval was unanimous.
2. An application for a building permit to build a four-plex on Lot 5 in Highland
Beach Isles, submitted by Mr. Tom Gullett and Courchene Construction. This
was approved ~y the building department. Commissioner Mumford moved to
approve issuance of a building permit. Commissioner Joy seconded and the
vote was unanimous.
3. An application for a building permit to build a single family residence
on Lot 22, Block 3 in Bel Lido, submitted by Mr. Kruse. The plans do not
conform to front and side setbacks and the pool does not comply with rear
setback. Based on these, the building department recommended denial of
issuance of a building permit, although representatives of the Bel Lido
Property Owners' Association approved the plans. After discussion,
Commissioner Joy moved to delay action for further consideration and full
• attendance of the Town Commission. Commissioner Mumford seconded and the
decision was unanimous.
4. Mr. Foster then presented a sketch for eight Townhouses to be constructed
on Lots 1, 2 and 3 in Highland Beach Isles. Preliminary approval was
granted.
Mayor Horton read a letter from Dr. George Priesty regarding Lot #1 in
Town, asking if he could construct 48 units on the parcel west of AlA and
use the parcel east of AlA for a club house and parking; and add the
remainder of units that could be constructed on the east parcel to those
constructed on the west parcel? The Mayor explained that this had not
been the practice in Town and suggested he submit a preliminary sketch.
Mayor Horton read a letter rec~~v~ed from the Area Planning Board regarding
a request from Mr. Sawyer and ~4~.'~Mathews to dredge in the Intracoastal
Waterway. They wanted our comments before a public hearing on Thursday,
September 21st. Approval was granted, with the understanding that the
dredged fill would be trucked away and not deposited on the beach.
The meeting adjourned at 11:00 A.M.

MINUTES: WORKSHOP MEETING OF THE TOWN COMMISSION - SEPTEMBER 19, 1972
The workshop meeting of the Town Commission was called to order by Mayor
Horton on Tuesday, September 19, 1972. Present were Mayor Horton and
Commissioners Joy and Mumford. Meeting was held at 11:00 A,M.
Mayor Horton announced that the Planning Board finally agreed on the
proposed zoning, the maps have been reproduced and suggested a Special
Meeting on Friday, September 22nd to put the zoning on for a first
reading.
Commissioner Joy complained about the stench in Penthouse Highlands and
suggested it could be a health hazard, Mrs. Roberts offered to contact
the plumbing inspector and the Board of Health if he advised it after
an inspection of the problem.
The meeting adjourned at 11:15 A.M,
