1971.01.26_TC_Minutes_WorkshopMINUTES: WORKSHOP MEETING OF THE TOWN COMMISSION - January 26, 1971 • A workshop meeting of the Town Commission was called to order by Mayor Horton on January 26, 1971 at 7: 30 P. M. Present were Mayor Horton, Comm. Beekman and Comm. Hackman. Also present were several Town residents. The proposed sewer Ordinance, which had its first reading on Jan. 5, 1971, was discussed. The second reading is due at the next regular meeting on February 2, 1971. Mayor Horton read a letter received. from the FIND Commission regarding a lease agreement for FIND land. between the Town and the Commission for a period of 25 years at $ 1.00 a year. The agreement will be read and voted on at the next regular meeting. Discussion was held regarding a proposed Ordinance regulating the landing of helicopters in Town. It was suggested by Comm. Beekman to have a clause inserted TT except in case of emergency." Mayor Horton informed the Commission that an additional fire proof file cabi- net is needed. in the office to house old tax records, building permits, cor- respondence, ~:tc. This will come up for vote at the next regular meeting. Discussion took place concerning the old floral arrangement and apartment owners bulletin board in the meeting room. More thought will be given as to what to do to improve the looks of this. • Regarding the Whitehouse property, the Town Attorney suggests erecting condemned signs and the Mayor said he will request Mr. Poulton to write the owner another letter, asking to have the building boarded up again to keep people away from the unsafe condition. Discussion was held regarding a proposed. Ordinance to require final inspections and a final certificate of occupancy within 6 months of issuance of a temporary certificate of occupancy on buildings. A question was raised concerning occupational license requirements for someone who looks after vacant apartments in a condominium, in the absence of the owners; and a person preparing income tax forms, using his residence as an office. One solution offered was to waive issuance of a license for residents who do not advertise but work out of their homes. Mayor Horton read an invitation to attend the dedication of the South County office building at 10:00 A. M. on February 4, 1971. Any Commissioner wishing to attend, please notify the office manager. The Mayor read a proof of publication requesting bids for construction of the raw water supply. Bids are to be opened ~~~~~~~~, Feb. 9, 1971. ? Mayor Horton read a report of activities from Mr. DiCampli for December and January to date. Also, Mr. DiCampli submitted a list of suggestions which will be turned over to a committee for study. These were read and discussed. Many views and suggestions were shared during the discussion th~.t followed. The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 P.
