On March 8, 1971 a notice of public hearing was published in the Sun
Sentinel for the purpose of inviting all interested persons to attend
and be heard regarding the zoning Ordinance amendment, on Thursday,
March 25, 1971 at 7:30 P. M. in the Town Hall. The meeting was held
in the fire station because of the anticipated large attendance. All
Commissioners were present except Comm. Jurisch. Town attorney T. P.
Poulton attended as well as many Town residents, property owners,
developers, attorneys and other interested persons.
Mayor Horton announced that the hearing was called to let the towns-
people express themselves on the zoning changes.
A letter was read that was received from Mrs. Wm. Stewart (Betlry Jean)
regarding her thoughts concerning the Town and the concern for its
future. She further suggested that a moratorium is needed for a pro-
fessional study to be made of the total Town.
Mr. Ralph Walton presented. facts pertaining to the water, sewer and
trash disposal facilities, the square mile area in the Town and then
presented a 30 page petition to the Town Commission, signed by 329
of the Town residents, approximately 72/ of which are registered.
voters and. 128 others that are to be registered voters within the
next few months. The office. manager was directed to compare the
signatures with those in the Voter Registration book and corroboration
presented at the next regular meeting on April 6, 1971.
There was discussion regarding the sewer system and who is connected
to it; the water plant and. the expansion program and the land area
yet to be developed. The total amount of land area in Town is 400
acres, which is .6/10 of a square mile. All people in attendance
were given a chance to be heard and to express themselves.
The meeting was adjourned at 9;30 P. M.
