A special meeting of the Town Commission was called to order by Mayor Horton
on Tuesday, October 20, 1970 at 7:30 P. M. This meeting eas called for the
purpose of adopting the 1970-71 budget and setting the 1970 tax millage rate.
All Commissioners were present.
Mayor Horton explained some of the aspects of the three proposed budgets;
from the office manager, the Finance comm.. and. a suggested compromise budget.
He then asked Finance Commissioner Hackman to present the report of the
Finance committee. Comm. Hackman presented the report and discussion followed.
Comm. Beekman read the Tax committee report, compiled by its members, Mr.
King Cayce and Mr. John Haslett. Further discussion followed from the
Commissioners and Town residents in attendance.
Comm. Jurisch moved the compromise budget be accepted. Comm. Beekman seconded.
Discussion followed and. it was unanimously decided.

rate for 1970 remain at 3.8 mills. Vice Mayor Vedder seconded, and. it was
unanimously approved..
Comm. Beekman moved to accept the County assessment roll as tha basis for Town
taxes for 1970. Vice Mayor Vedder seconded and. the decision was unanimous.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 P. M.
