1974.03.14_TC_Minutes_Special• • U MINUTES: Special Meeting of the Town Commission - March 14, 1974 The Special Meeting requested by Mayor Horton and Commissioners Gilday and Joy to consider and/or take action to adopt, a first reading, of: "An ordinance to propose certain Charter Amendments to be placed on the ballot for the May 7, 1974, .Election", the meeting was called to order by Mayor Horton at 10:45 a.m.. Present were: Mayor Horton, Vice Mayor Dent, and Commissioners Gilday, Joy and Mumford. At the request of the Commission, the Town's Attorney was in audience. Mayor Horton advised that a Public Hearing should be held before the adoption of the proposed ordinance, and it was decided that the hear- ing be scheduled for 9:30 a.m. March 21, 1974. Publication to be in the customary notice which is required to advise of the Commission's intention to adopt an ordinance. (Final reading of the ordinance to be at the regular meeting scheduled for April 2, 1974, at 7:00 p.m.) Each Commissioner, and others present, took turns reading the pro- posed section being revised. The State Law references were deleted. Corrections were noted through-out the text and made. With respect to Section 3.03 a motion offered by Commissioner Gilday, seconded by Commissioner Joy and approved by Mayor Horton, Vice Mayor Dent and Commissioners Gilday, Joy and Mumford approved the change for this section. The first reading of the ordinance, "An Ordinance of the Town of H igh- land Beach, Florida providing for Centain Charter Changes to be voted upon by the Electorate at the General Election to be held on May 7, 1974", was concluded at 2:30 p.m..
