1975.12.08_TC_Minutes_Special TOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH, FLORIDA Minutes of Meeting of Town Commission Special Meeting December 8, 1975 9:30 A,M. Meeting called to order by Mayor Morton E. Gilday at 9:30 A,M, The Mayor announced that this meeting has been called by him for a number of purposes. Present were: Mayor Morton E. Gilday Vice Mayor Leslie W, Joy Commissioner Ruth E, Mumford Commissioner Harry Bauer Commissioner Robert D. Clark Mayor Gilday stated that he would vary the order of the agenda. • WEBB CONTRACT FOR WATER PLANT Mrs. Roberts stated that Webb Contracting has assured her the crane to be placed at the Water Treatment Plant is a small crane and that will be stored on the Northwest corner of the property, therefore not being too visible to the neighbors. She asked for approval and stated that her office would take care of any complaints. Mayor Gilday called for a motion to approve this recommendation. MOTIfJN by Vice Mayor Joy/Commissioner Clark: "I will so move". ROLL CALL on the Motion Carried Unanimously, BILLS FOR APPROVAL The Finance Director presented bills for approval. Mayor Gilday called for a motion to accept, approve • and pay the bills. Minutes Highland Beach Town Commission • Special Meeting December 8, 1975 MOTION by Commissioner Mumford/Commissioner Clark: ROLL CALL on the Motion Carried Unanimously. Page 2 of 3 "I so move". Mayor Gilday read a letter of resignation from Commissioner Bauer, as a member of the Board of Trustees, Retirement Plan. Mayor Gilday called for a Motion to accept this resignation. MOTION by Commissioner Mumford/Commissioner Clark: "I move to accept this resignation". ROLL CALL on the Motion Carried Unanimously. The Mayor then called for a nomination for a successor to Commissioner Bauer to serve on this Board. • Vice Mayor Joy offered the name of Commissioner Robert D. Clark and this was seconded by Commissioner Mumford. Mayor Gilday called for additional nominations. There were none. ROLL CALL on the Motion Carried Unanimously. APPOINTMENT OF TOWN COMMIaSION Mayor Gilday again noted that Commissioner Bauer had resigned the Town Commission and expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Commission. Mayor Gilday read a note from Commissioner Bauer thanking everyone at Town Ha 11. The Mayor offered in nomination, the name of Senator William S. Hults to fill this vacancy on the Town Commission. Mayor Gilday listed the Senator's credentials for the benefit of the audience. Mayor Gilday called for a second to his nomination. Commissioner Clark seconded the nomination; also, Vice Mayor Joy and Commissioner • Mumford Minutes Highland Beach Town Commission Special Meeting December 8, 1975 Page 3 of 3 The Mayor then called for any other nominations for this vacancy. There were none. ROLL CALL on the Motion to nominate William S. Hults Carried Unanimously. Senator and Mrs. Hults stepped to the podium and Mayor Gilday officiated at the ceremony while Mrs. Hults held the Bible and looked on. Commissioner Bauer relinquished his seat on the podium to Senator Hults. .7 Mayor Gilday recognized Mr. Thomas Losee who spoke on behalf of the Civic League. He wished Senator Hults well in his new appointment. The Mayor then recognized Mr. Beekman who also welcomed the Senator. The meeting ADJOURNED at 9:50 A.M.
