Minutes of Meeting of Town Commission
Public Hearing
Zoning
Regulation of Land Use
July 29, 1980 5.00 P M
Mayor Horton called the Public Hearing to order at 5:00 P.M., stating
that this meeting had been called by the Town Commission for the
purpose of hearing comments and requests from the public. The notice
for the Public Hearing was published on July 21, 1980 and will be
published again on Augv.st 4, 1980 for the second Public Hearing to be
held on August 12,1980, in the Sun-Sentinel.
Those in attendance were: Mayor Louis Y. Horton, Vice Mayor Harold C.
Storm and Commissioner Mary Louise G. Blosser. Commissioners Harry
Bauer and Peter J. Genovese were absent. Also in attendance were:
Elaine W. Roberts, Town Manager; Thomas E. Sliney, Town Attorney; and
Jane E. Barker, Town Clerk.
• My Bill Byrnes of the Carlton House was in the audience.
The first matter to be discussed was the changing of the Comprehensive
Plan on the property just south of the Town Hall, which was formerly
medium residential and should now be included in the Government Service
District as it is now Town owned property.
Mayor Horton inquired if any one wished to make any comments in
regard to this change in the Comprehensive Plan. There were no comments,
Mayor Horton stated that the next matter was the changing of the Zoning
Ordinance, specifically Section 5.2(a), Section 3.2 (new) and Section
13.33 (new). Section 5.2 (a) pertains to "Height Limits", Section 3.2
to "Time-Share Estates" and "Time-Share Units" and Section 13.33
pertains to "Definitions". The Mayor called for comments on these items.
Mr. Byrnes asked if there were any "time-sharing units" in Town right
now and Mayor Horton said "no" and explained that with the changing
of the Zoning Ordinance, it was hoped the units could be stopped from
coming into,Town.
Mayor Horton then announced that the next Public Hearing on these two
same subjects would be held on Tuesday, August 12,1980 at 5:00 P.M. in
the Town Hall.

Mayor Horton explained the reason for the Public Hearings being
held at 5:00 P.M. which was due to the fact that, in prior years,
many Townspeople worked and could attend meetings only in the
evening. The 5:00 P.M. time was decided upon for the reason that
the Staff was already in Town Hall and also to comply with Florida
Statutes requirements.
Mayor Horton then said that the purposes for which these meetings
had been called, had been accomplished. Meeting ADJOURNED at 5:06 P.M.
