The seawall in place has reached/exceeded its expected service life and in the opinion of Jason
Taylor, PE (Cummins Cederberg Inc.) is in "Serious" condition overall. From Mr. Taylor's report of
January 2018, "We recommend replacement within the next 2 years. . .. failure of the seawall may
be sudden."

Proposed Changes
The applicant is proposing install approximately 443 feet of steel sheet piles, 42 prestressed
concrete batter piles, new cast in place concrete seawall cap, and partial removal/repair of 9
wood finger docks.
Development Standards
• Seawall construction requires approval by Town Commission (Sec 6-127 (a));
• Building permits required (Sec 30-42);
• Notification requirements within 1000 feet abutting proposed construction
(Sec 6-128 (a));
• Seawalls west of A 1 A shall have elevations in excess of 6 feet above sea
level (6.00 feet NGVD or 4.5 feet NAVO) (Sec 6-128 (b)).

IV. RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Town of Highland Beach Building Department has reviewed the building plans submitted by
the applicant and has found that the proposed construction does comply with the Florida Building
Code and the Highland Beach Code of Ordinances.
V. OTHER MATTERS:
The Building Official has reviewed the application and submitted documents on June 10, 2019,
and hereby certifies the following action was taken:

TOWN COMMISSION
YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED that the Town
Commission of the Town of Highland
Beach will conduct a public hearing on
Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 1:30 PM in the
Commission Chambers at Town Hall,
3614 South Ocean Boulevard, Highland
Beach, Florida, to consider the following
application.
REQUEST SUBMITTED BY CORONADO AT
HIGHLAND BEACH CONDO ASSOCIATION,
INC. LOCATION: 3400 S. OCEAN BLVD,
HIGLAND BEACH, FLORIDA 33487.
APPLICATION #19-0370 -APPLICANT IS
PROPOSING TO REPLACE/REPAIR A FAIL-
ING SEAWALL ALONG THE INTRACOASTAL
WATERWAY. THE SEAWALL IN PLACE HAS
REACHED/EXCEEDED ITS EXPECTED SER-
VICE LIFE AND IN THE OPINION OF CUM-
MINS CEDERBERG INC., IS IN "SERIOUS"
CONDITION OVERALL. THE APPLICANT IS
PROPOSING TO INSTALL APPROXIMATELY
443 FEET OF STEEL SHEET PILES, 42
PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BATTER PILES,
NEW CAST IN PLACE CONCRETE SEAWALL
CAP, AND PARTIAL REMOVAUREPAIR OF 9
WOOD FINGER DOCKS.
A copy of the proposed ordinance is
available for public inspection in the
Town Clerk's Office at Town Hall, 3614 So.
Ocean Boulevard, Highland Beach, Florida
33487. All interested persons are encour-
aged to attend the Public Hearing and
be heard with respect to the proposed
ordinances.
Any person that decides to appeal any
decision made by the Town Commission
with respect to any matter considered
at this meeting, such person will need
to ensure that a verbatim record of the
proceeding is made, which includes the
testimony and evidence upon which the
appeal is based. The Town of Highland
Beach does not provide such a record.
