TOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH, FLORIDA
• TOWN COMMISSION
SPECIAL MEETING
March 8, 1983 1:30 P.M.
Mayor Horton called the Special Meeting to order at 1:30 P.M. Those
in attendance were: Louis Y. Horton, Mayor; Mary Louise G. Blosser,
Vice Mayor; and Commissioners John J. Basso, Edward J. Sullivan and
Harry Walker.
Also in attendance were Elaine W. Roberts, Town Manager; Tom Sliney,
Town Attorney; Ron Hoggard and Lindsey Walter of Gee & Jensen; and
Rita Ebersole, Deputy Town Clerk.
Before starting the agenda, Mayor Horton gave the floor to Mrs. Doris
Rome of Ambassadors East. Mrs. Rome complained about the situation
in front of the Coronado - parking, debris, etc. She also mentioned
a hazardous condition for people exiting from Ambassadors South. They
cannot see oncoming traffic because trucks park next to their exit.
Mr. Roger Zona, General Contractor for the Coronado, who was in the
• audience, was asked by the Mayor how this problem could be solved.
Mr. Zona said that within a week he will have all the workers vehicles
off AlA. They will be permitted to use the parking area within the
condominium. He also said they police the area daily picking up
debris, etc.
Vice Mayor Blosser discussed the problem of the alarm going off night
and day. Mr. Zona said it is a very sensitive alarm which reacts to
dust, humidity, etc. and when the air conditioning is operative, there
will be no problem. The system has been approved by the Fire Marshall.
Mayor Horton then went to item one on the agenda - Termination date
for the former Town Clerk. Mrs. Roberts felt a termination date was
needed now because Mrs. Barker filed for unemployment benefits and
cannot receive them until she ds terminated. She also mentioned that
Mrs. Barker is being denied the use of her Retirement money which is
still invested.
Commissioner Basso/Sullivan MOVED to terminate Mrs. Barker as of today,
March 8, 1983. All voted Aye.
Item 2 on the agenda - Local governing body review of proposed
