SPECIAL MEETING RE ROYAL HIGHLANDS
Friday, June 14, 1985 14!:30 A.M.
A Special Meeting of the Town Commission was called to order at 10:30
a.m. by Mayor Edward J. Sullivan in the Town Commission Chambers at
Town Hall. Also present were Vice Mayor Mary Louise G. Blosser and
Commissioner William A. Grier. Commissioners John J. Basso and Betty
Jean Stewart were absent.
Also present were Town Attorney Thomas E. Sliney, Town Manager Hugh D.
Williams, Planning Board Vice-Chairman Doris Rome, Town Clerk Mary Ann
Whaley, and members of the general public.
Mayor Sullivan explained that the purpose of the Special Meeting was to
discuss the Tenon International project (Royal Highlands).
Attorney Sliney noted that this matter had been discussed at a Workshop
Meeting earlier this day and recommended that the Town Commission
authorize the Town Manager to retain expert engineers to resolve those
questions raised at the Workshop Meeting. Further, Attorney Sliney
recommended that the Town Commission urge the Plannig Board to invite
Tenon to their June 19, 1985 Meeting to discuss the matter with a view
toward arriving at a satisfactory plan for the project. The Town
Manager requested that he and the Town Attorney be authorized to work
together on the retention of expert engineers in this matter. It was
the consensus of the Town Commission that this matter was of such
urgency that bidding procedures be waived. MOTION was made by VICE
MAYOR BLOSSER/COMMISSIONER GRIER to authorize the Town Manager, in con-
junction with the Town Attorney, to hire the necessary expert engineers
to resolve the questions which arose re the Tenon project. The MOTION
carried unanimously.
In view of the time limitation imposed by the Court and the urging of
the Court that the parties work toward an amicable solution to this
matter, MOTION was made by COMMISSIONER GRIER/VICE MAYOR BLOSSER to
suggest to the Planning Board that they invite the developers on the
Tenon project to their next meeting in an attempt to resolve this issue
as promptly as possible. This MOTION also carried unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the Town Commission at
this Special Meeting, and upon proper Motion and Second, the meeting
was adjourned at 10:40 a.m.
