1988.10.18_TC_Minutes_Special (2)~ .~ ~..~. TOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH, FLORIDA ~. Minutes of Meeting of Town Commission SPECIAL MEETING Tuesday, October 18, 1988 4:00 P.M. The Special Meeting of the Town Commission was called to order by Vice Mayor John J. Basso in the Commission Chambers at Town Hall at 4:00 P.M. Other present were Commissioners Robert F. Scholz, Doris R. Rome and Marvin A. Waldman. Mayor Betty Jean Stewart was absent. Also in attendance were Town Attorney Thomas E. Sliney, Town Manager Mary Ann Mariano, Deputy Town Clerk Anne M. Kowals and members of the general public. Vice Mayor Basso noted that the Special Meeting was called to consider a Resolution amending Resolution No. 522 which established "Zoning in Progress" and to consider an exemption request from "Zoning in Progress" submitted by Mr. Gary Gordon. The Town Manager explained that the purpose of this Special Meeting is to take up a Resolution regarding exemptions for properties offering a minimum of 33-1/3~ reduction in allowable density under the zoning ordinance in effect at the time of application. • Commissioner Rome commented that she read the entire Resolution and it reads very well. Town Attorney Sliney noted that the Town Manager did a good job incorporating the suggestions, made by Commissioner Waldman at the last Regular Meeting of the Town Commission, into the Resolution. The Resolution was read in its entirety by the Deputy Town Clerk. MOTION was made by COMMISHICNER RCMEj~OMM'IS~IONER SCHOLZ to accept the Resolution as read. The MOTION carried without objection. The next agenda item, a request for exemption from "Zoning in Progress" submitted by Mr. Gary Gordon, was considered. Town Manager Mariano explained that Mr. Gordon is proposing to reduce the density by constructing a duplex (rather than a triplex) building on the northwest corner of Bel Air Drive and A-1-A. The Town Manager noted that it would be an asset for the Town to have that vacant parcel developed. The Town Manager stated that Gary Gordon is present to address any questions the Commission may have in regard to his proposal noted that plans are available for review in the Building Department. When questioned as to what precipitated his change in density, Mr. Gordon explained that the property is expensive and he could not afford to build the three units at this time. „" Town Con-n-ission Special Meeting Minutes October 18, 1988 Page 2 of 2 COMMISSIONER R~M~/COMMISSID~iER ~TALDLYd~iN made a M~TID~ to approve the exen-ption fron- "Zoning in Progress" Resolution for Mr. Cordon's property. The MOTION carried unanimously. Town Attorney noted that the notion is approval for the "Zoning in Progress" exemption only; the project returns to the Town Commission after all approvals are received fron- the appropriate Town Boards. There being no further business to con-e before the Town Commission at this tin-e, Vice Mayor Basso adjourned the Special Meeting at 4:05 P.M.
