REGULAR/WORKSHOP
MEETING MINUTES
Tuesday, Ju1~15, 2008 9:30 a.m.
Chairman Jack A. Halpern called the Regular/Workshop Meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. in
Commission Chambers. In attendance were Chairman Halpern, Vice Chair Neil W.
Burd, Secretary Anthony P. Ruotolo and Members Theresa Colarullo, David Stern and
Joseph Colby. Peter Coralles was absent. Also in attendance were Town Attorney
Thomas E. Sliney, Building Official Bob Dawson and members of the general public.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The following sets of minutes were unanimously approved by:
May 20, 2008 Regular Meeting David Stern/Joseph Colby
May 20, 2008 Public Hearing (Renaissance) Neil Burd/Joseph Colby
May 20, 2008 Workshop meeting (Goldstein) Terry Colarullo/Joseph Colby
Old Business
• Chairman Halpern noted for the record that the Goldstein Boat Lift application which
was planned for a Public Hearing today, was withdrawn. He noted reference to a letter
sent by the Goldstein's attorney withdrawing the application, and a letter from Attorney
Sliney responding to same. Mr. Dawson noted that the boat lift is still in place and he
will be forwarding a Code Enforcement violation notice to the Goldstein's.
Workshop
No. 07-08-98: CONSIDERATION OF THE APPLICATION OF DAVID
SNEIDERMAN, SIGN-A-RAMA, FOR INSTALLATION OF A NEW RESIDENTIAL
SIGN FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 2921 S. OCEAN BLVD.; HIGHLAND
TOWERS.
REQUESTING: 18 FOOT SQUARE
ALLOWED: 10 FOOT SQUARE
Mr. Dawson noted that this is an application for a sign on the front side of the building
which is larger than Town code allows. He drew a rendition on the white board depicting
the sign. Mike Sniderman, authorized agent, noted that the building was constructed in
1955 and the original "flat wall" sign was 25 sq. ft. As the building just recently
underwent some renovation, town code calls for a new sign to be no more than 10 sq.ft.
This is the normal size sign when placed at the roadway, and is more than enough for
identification purposes, but as the new building sign will go on the facade, and the
building is approximately 120 feet from the roadway, a 10 sq.ft. "flat wall" sign would
• not be large enough for identification. The Board received photos comparing the

two sizes, and it seemed evident that the 10 ft. sq. sign was too small for the size of the
building's front facade.
A Public Hearing has been scheduled for August 19 at 9:30 a.m. for public input.
Upon MOTION BY Mr. Colby/Mrs. Colarullo the Workshop Meeting was closed.
Other Business
Jerry Marshall who lives in Bel Lido Isles spoke about the Goldstein boat lift
issue and the "embarrasement" the whole situation caused the residents. He asked
that the Town re-look at their policies regarding code enforcement and board
variances, and that the proper procedures be followed so as not to allow these
types of issues to drag on.
Adiournment
With no further business to come before the Boazd, MOTION to adjourn was made by
Mr. Colby/Mrs. Colarullo at 10:05 a.rn.
