1984.08.27_BAA_Minutes_Regular (2)TOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH, FLORIDA • BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT Public Hearing Re: Three Variances August 27, 1984 KINZER RESIDENCE Chairman Schiff called the Public Hearing regarding the Kinzer resi- dence to order at 1:30 P.M. Also present were Vice-chairman Benjamin Winston and Messers. Albert Kahler, Arthur J. Kiefer, Stephen Doig, Gilbert Lorenz (alt. #1) and Harold Cohen (alt. #2). Also in at- tendance were Town Manager Elaine W. Roberts, Town Attorney David Friedman, Building Official Bruce Sutherland, Mr. James Drago and Town residents. Mr. James Drago, architect and general contractor, presented facts, showed sketch and site plan and explained the definition and purpose of the gazebo. The Variance Petition reveals the location of the gazebo to be in the rear. It is 12 feet in diameter, 14 feet high. Bruce Sutherland, the Building Official, explained the petition. There were no comments from the public. • A roll call vote produced five aye votes. The Board Members who voted aye were Messers. Albert Schiff, Benjamin Winston, Albert Kahler, Arthur J. Kiefer and Stephen Doig. Chairman Schiff adjourned the Public Hearing at 1:45 P.M. TRIONFO PETITION At 2:30 P.M., Chairman Schiff called the Public Hearing regarding the Joseph Trionfo petition to order. Also present were vice- chairman Benjamin Winston and Messers. Albert Kahler, Arthur J. Kiefer, Stephen Doig, Gilbert Lorenz (alt. #1) and Harold Cohen (alt. #2). Also in attendance were Town Manager Elaine W. Roberts, Town Attorney David Friedman, Building Official Bruce Sutherland and Town residents. Mr. & Mrs. Trionfo explained their reason for request for permission to build a 9 feet high screen enclosure to be located in the rear setback. They both stated they are allergic to insect bites. There were no objections from any neighbors. The Building Official explained the petition. No comments were isoffered by the public. BILL FREDERICK PETITION Chairman Schiff called the Public Hearing regarding the Bill Frederick petition to order at 3:30 P.M. Also present were Vice- chairman Benjamin Winston and Messers. Albert Kahler, Arthur J. Kiefer, Stephen Doig, Gilbert Lorenz (alt. #1) and Harold Cohen (alt. #2). Also in attendance were Town Manager Elaine W. Roberts, Town Attorney David Friedman, Building Official Bruce Sutherland and Town residents. Present also, on behalf of Bill Frederick, were Mike Woolsey and architect Lee Martin. Mr. Martin explained the petition regarding building height and gatehouse. As building width is over 100 feet, it was determined that new plans were required. There was lengthy discussion among the Board Members, Town At- torney, Building Official and owner representatives. Mr. & Mrs. Ed Brandt of 2395 South Ocean Boulevard, Highland Beach, Florida, offered their comments. The Board Members voted to continue the Public Hearing on Monday, September 24, 1984, at 1:30 P.M., and requested that a new peti- tion be submitted listing all three requests for variance: location of gatehouse, building height and building width over 100 feet.
